I never said anything about facing the DJ. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. When I go out, I'm there to have fun, which includes talking to people I know, getting drinks, dancing, etc. It's not really the facing aspect, it's the worship part. I mean, most of the action, whether it be dancers, lighting, other visuals, etc are going on near the DJ on stage. Either way, I couldn't care less if people face the DJ or not.

Hehe, well we will just butt heads here. Put it this way though and seriously think about it...
I live in Philly, so when I make an NYC trip, I make the best of it. ;) So think about when I see a dj like Armin or Digweed. WOW! :) |
No, I understand what you're saying, but I'm just saying that it's silly. I get how things are more special when you don't have them. It's like going for a long time without getting laid, though, which I'm sure you've had the displeasure of experiencing (I know I have before) The sex could be absolutely mediocre, but since it's been months, you'd think it was great because there's no perspective. On the contrary, when it's a daily thing, you can't be fooled. That's the exact same type of thing.
I can't believe you'd try to tout lack of experience as a positive thing. Ignorance is bliss, but by being ignorant, you relinquish your rights to have your opinions matter as much as those who are more informed and have more experience. Say you were going base your movie choices on critical acclaim alone. Whose opinion has more basis, a professional who watches and compares movies for a living, or some guy who writes up some review on Yahoo Movies?
BTW, I doubt even if Dani took a year off from going out that she'd come back and be like "OMG, Tijs PWNED so hard last night.:D |

Interesting Thread. Big Blue, I believe you were referring to my post under the review thread for Armand van Helden @ Pacha 2 weekends ago. Generally speaking, I believe that you can do whatever you want at a club (I'm not one to be bothered by people who seem like they're having a good time), but the people that, as some of us put it, 'DJ Worship' tend to have a better idea of the music than those that don't. Most of those people grinding and standing in a position from which neither partner has a clear view of the DJ generally couldn't tell the difference between Armand van Helden and Armin van Buuren (I love saying that). They go to 'Crobar on a Friday night' rather than to 'Danny Howells @ Crobar'. This is a different clubbing mentality, and those of us that go based on who's headlining might have some trouble recognizing this.
Also, while I by no means encourage 'DJ Worship', there's something to be said for a situation in which your movements on the dancefloor are dictated by the music, something that is, in turn, controlled by the DJ. Someone said, "It's about the music and not the DJ". If that was indeed the case, then we could just put the latest radio mix or latest CD of our favorite DJ in to a CD player and blast it on the Crobar speakers. |

Well, it's possible, as he's gotten so much better now, he might be amazing in a year's time! :haha: |

When PvD dropped the original as his encore at Crobar two months earlier, I was more impressed. I don't like that remix Armin uses. |
