CHP MAXIMUM ENFORCEMENT - MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND - the CHP will have the maximum number of officers patrolling Southern California freeways this weekend from 6PM Friday, May 26 through midnight, Monday, May 29 - they will be targeting drivers who speed and drive recklessly or under the influence and checking for proper child restraint in car seats in an effort to reduce the number of accidents and casualties normally associated with Memorial Day Weekend
TRAVEL STATISTICS FOR MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND - between 2.5 and 3 million California drivers are expected to take to the road this weekend - AAA predicts a one percent increase in roadway travel over last year, despite gas prices - 800,000 travelers are expected to pass through LAX - 40 million people are expected to travel nationwide - the most popular destination points for Los Angeles residents are: Las Vegas, San Diego, San Francisco, the Grand Canyon and Yosemite National Park - (KCBS-TV and KTLA-TV) |
