| Its just one of too many detective tv series that's on tv these days. I'm not a big fan of them. |

I'd compeletely disagree. I understand what you are saying in general, that the detective genre is supersaturated at the moment, but Life on Mars is completely fresh, and is fantastically written.
The writing itself is so good that its worth watching just for that, but when you combine it with the 1973 setting (which they milk perfectly for all its worth) with the time travel elements you have a very unique show.
To me its definitely a case where the "detective" part of the show is just there to give an excuse for all the great character interactions and stories.
Best detective show since Foyle's War ;) |

i'm confused as to why there's so much hype around at the moment when the series finished a couple of months ago (to my knowledge)? they had john simm on jonathon ross last night & the gene hunt actor on top gear last week both talking about it. has it just come out on dvd or something?
great series all the same. i don't make the effort to watch much tv these days but this was a rare exception that got me hooked :) |
