went to the doors open event today. got to see the 54th floor of the toronto dominion center which was built in 1967 by meis van der rohe. pretty cool to see where all the TD execs have their meetings and stuff.
then i went to the new city hall, visited the rotunda, and then went to the obervation deck which i didnt even know existed.
overall pretty good day, but a bit smoggy which didnt make the pictures turn out that well. |

yesterday was WAY nicer. it was pretty much my ideal day, weather-wise. no humidity, nice breeze and beautiful blue skies. hazy skies are gross.
thus, yesterday i spent many hours outside. today - not so much. |

i had a crazy spontaneious weekend:
what started out as a trip to meeting some friends in mississauga friday nite turned into a two day road trip to the shores of lake huron all the way up to the northern tip of bruce peninsula.

stopping in the small scottish town of fergus we went 'cliff' jumping & for a quick dip in a nearby quarry

...for a walk through some forest

after some fish 'n chips & a pint in a scottish pub watching the sunset we continued our journey up north...
we ended up getting lost in the middle of no-where, on never-ending gravel roads, dense eree forests...nothing but pitch darkness & and a sky full of stars...we came to something that looked like the entrance of area 51 just north of kincardine. we stopped to look at the map when i see a flashlight blinking in the rearview mirror. needless to say i nearly had a heart attack! 2 fully armed security guards approached us. they work for the fenced off nuclear power plant. finally, after they realized that we weren't there to steal their plutonium, they sent us on our way but we were so freaked out of our minds that we got lost again!! LOL! driving around, we ended up right next to one of those massively huge windmills. i swear those blades are like wings from a boeing 747! we got out of the car...i was shocked by the amount of noise & wind these things make!! it felt like i needed to hold on to something otherwise i would be blown away! standing almost directly underneath it in the middle of a field and surrounded by nothing but a sea of stars...i was :eyes: speechless! totally shocked and dumbfounded we continued on our way...further into even more dense forest. i thought i was in the blair witch movie. at that point, my heart was pounding, waiting for someone at any second to jump out of the bushes ... it was already 1am so we needed to find a place to camp. we entered macgregor point provincial park and pitched our tent near the beach. i barely slept all nite...totally knackered at the crack of dawn we found a gas station, got some toothbrushes and found good old timmy's. somewhat refreshed and coffees in hand we continued our journey even further north. what had been a beautiful sunny day the day before turned into a wet a rainy drive along the coast of lake huron.

after another couple hours of driving we finally reached our final destination - Tobermory, which is the most northern tip of bruce peninsula & the the scuba diving capital of canada due the many shipwrecks off the coast (i think i counted about 18).
after some lunch we thought it could be a good idea to change directions at last and make our way back home. because this was an unplanned adventure i had been wearing the same clothes what seemed like for a week and was in desperate need of a hot shower. after 6 long hours of driving back down south passing through the ground hog capital wiarton & owen sound we arrived back home like shipwrecked sailors.
the sun did come back out as we got closer down to known territory.

i'm exhausted, my body hurts and i have never been happier to be back home with my kat ninja! what a weekend! :wtf: :tongue2

...i do have a niteshot of the windmill but it's on my other camera. will d/l and post tomorrow b/c it is quite the amazing site!
