As of today, I've started the battle that is quitting smoking. After wanting to quit for months I finally did something about it. I saw my doctor, and started on the patch today. Wish me luck.

It's not a battle. Put down the ing cigarette. There. Now, move on with your life. Everyone i know who has quit (myself included), quit in this manner. This is the only way to do it. By using the patch, etc, you convince yourself that you're too weak to do it on your own. As a result, you either won't quit at all, or if you do quit, you'll start smoking again the moment a major crisis hits you. And it will. If you quit on your own, you will never go back because you'll have the: "i'm strong enough" conviction. If you don't, you'll go back to smoking, because instead of "i'm strong enough," you'll be thinking "i wasn't strong enough to quit on my own then, and i'm not strong enough to stay away from it now. I needed the patch to help me deal with quitting smoking, and now i need smoking to help me deal with this crisis. Just one smoke, i swear. I won't buy a pack. Well, maybe just one." So yea: cut the . Put down the cig. Move on.

EAT A DICK

I decided to quit, even with the patch/nicorette you still have to have the will power not to smoke. Stop smoking aids help to minimize the withdrawl simptoms - that's it. If quitting cold turkey worked for you congrats, but i saw my physician and they recommended me something. So unless you are my doctor STFU and die.

Bull. You've been lead to believe that it's a big step by the very same companies that sell cigarettes. This belief makes it harder to quit, and ensures that you continue buying from them (patches, if not smokes) even if you do try to quit. Quitting smoking is PRECISELY as difficult as you think it is. I quit cold turkey, and it was one of the easiest things i've ever done because i believed it to be. My father did too. And my mother. And my grandfather. And all my best friends. Look, it goes like this: cigarette - a few dry leaves and paper; you - nature's greatest and most powerful creation, the end result of billions of years of evolution. Now, are you really trying to tell me that for someone like YOU (and by you, i mean any human), it should be difficult (or even somewhat challenging) to quit THAT? For 's sake!

Wow. YOU, are one dumb ! I was trying to help you, . Fair enough. Your willpower has just been conquered by a ING PLANT. Enjoy your patch. We'll revisit this thread in a year and i guarantee that you'll be smoking again by then.
