MP4 Players ?
View this Thread in Original format
Ian
I'm looking at moving on from my discman (yes it's so 1990s) but I'm unsure on what to get. I've seen mp4 players, which to the best of my knowledge do the same as an mp3 player plus the ability to watch videos etc.

What I don't know is, what do I look for in one, function/feature wise. Are certain brands worth getting/avoiding ?

thanks for all help :)

I wish I could give you a definite date, man. Apple has been having some problems with their partners pertaining to parts in their 6th generation iPod so the first quarter of '06 release date was bumped back (as can be seen, seeing as how the second quarter is winding up).

Either way, this new iPod looks to be EXTREMELY juicy.

a discman? you might want to consider donating that to a museum.

you might also consider donating yourself as the last person to use one

Last summer, I took a few courses in the city (NYC) and one day, walking near Manhattan Mall, I saw a dude with a cassette player. Shocked me. He seemed the coolest person in the crowd, though. Everyone else had their white headphones and MP3 players.

Wow, just a larger screen that you can scratch and be pissed off about. Don't get me wrong, I love my iPod, but I certainly hate how quickly and easily the screen can and will get scratched. They had better of vastly improved the screen's scratch resistance or else it's not worth buying.

Gotta give Apple a bit more credit. The screens will definitely be much more heavy duty since there'll be plenty of hands-on use.

Check that post again for an edit at the bottom.

I use it only for flights & on the beach, it's always worked so I saw no need to update while I had better things to spend the money on :) Have you thought about donating yourself for scientific use by those black guys you keep following around :p

@ Yan - Cheers for the info mate, will definitely look into it. Might buy a cheap mp3 player just to tide me over on my June/July vacation (god im sounding american now just so people know what I mean :haha:

There are players that can do mp4, divx, xvid, avi, mpeg and mpeg2 all in one, Creative has there new Zen Vision:M which I think is the Ipod killer.
