Hey sweeties,

after dj'ing for a while I've now started to try my hands at actually making music. I'm still a sucker for epic trance (the old '98-'01 style). Here's my first attempt at something epic:

"Chavettes" (5:21)

I would really appreciate your feedback and input on making it better.

Hugs!

hey

just and a look at your tune it's good liked it a lot.
you could do with the synth being turn up a bit so it lift's it out of the tune more..
but like i said it's all good.
you hear of a site i use www.naughtyaudio.com they can help with stuff like that and they have a data bass of 1200 record label's that they can send it off to on you behalf..
Hope this helps you..X

nice epic feel to this. one real problem is the voice. too cheesy for my liking. drop that.

nice listen kind of reminds me of tilt stuff.

keep it up!

Nice acid elements in there, i love'em. But i agree that the voice and voicebreaks smells like old cheesedoodles.

I like everything i hear but the voice though...

Hey there,

Nice structure.

What does stand out as being a really weak point in this track is the percussion. The rythmic elements that are supposed to drive a track along have been drowned out or are just not programmed in a particulary energetic way.
Also the way the clap comes in over the kick it gives it the feel that they are alternating rather than complementing each other. The track looses a lot of great potential energy with this.

The mix itself also has some elements in it which need to be tamed to give you a much cleaner sound overall.

In terms of the artistic, I think this is a great track and you have really captured some of the things that were truly wonderful about that time in dance music.

Cheers

Hey you! Sweet of you to listen to my track. I hope to spice up the synth in the track this weekend, will let you guys hear it when I've improved it.

Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks! You may be right about the voice. I thought it was kind of appropriate in the track, but I may drag it through a vocoder or something to see if I can fit it into the mix a bit better.

Later!

Acid is such a cool thing. I've heard the 303-sound a bit too often in recent years though. However, it's still a nice thing for a background layer to pump some energy into a mix.

Thanks for the encouragement!

Thanks Nem, I really appreciate the feedback. You may be on to something with the drum comments. I kind of liked them this way, but maybe for the true epic-style they ought to be a bit cleaner and less compressed.

I'll see if I can improve some of those things in the mix!

You should have titled this thread: "Girl's first attempt @ Epic Trance":p

This sounds very outdated indeed. Somehow I like the choir voice, it's usually an element that lacks in today's Trance:) Good job on the acid, but it seems that also I didn't like that one vocal though:(

However it's a nice trip back in time;)
