i'm just wondering bout some stuff in encoding mp3s
1. whats the best encoder to use (i use a lame encoder)
2. why do people use vbr, like is it supposed to be better (i find the sound quality to be worse off and in livesets you can't split the mp3s)
3. whats the difference between mpeg 1 and mpeg 2 (eg MPEG 1.0 layer 3)
4. i heard from someone that you can upgrade encoder version and i don't know where

thats all the questions i have, thanks for the help

You can find ALL of that information and LOTS more at http://www.r3mix.net/ This site explains about ripping (doing the actual xecration from CD, NOT encoding, yet), Encoding (use latest LAME at either 256 kbps OR VBR (described in MUCH more deatail), quality, analysing the quality of mp3s bitrates, VBR, and encoders and the reason to only use LAME, NOT Xing or Fraunhoffer encoders, and there's a forum.
Just go to http://www.r3mix.net/ to begin learning how to encode archiveable quality mp3s!
SPREAD THIS SITE!!! http://www.r3mix.net/
