Rhythmic Gating

Quick question: What's an ideal plugin for achieving rhythmic gating effects? I have used Vanguard's Trancegate feature in the demo version to see if I liked it, but I'm not too keen on Vanguard to be honest. I'd rather use Absynth, ES2, Pro-53, the likes.
I used to easilly do rhythmic gates in Reason just by using the Matrix Pattern Module, but I don't want to run Reason through Rewire because it kills my G4. So, my question, in reiteration, is what is a good plugin for getting rhythmic gated effects on a sound source?

for gating i pretty much use the mgAudio mgTriggerGate, it is pretty similiar to the vanguard gate indeed, but as a standalone it has a few enhancements and you might like it.
best thing, its for free :-P |

| maybe CamelSpace has a mac version? I¨m not sure check out camel audio...and if no success try browsing KVRAudio.com for some. |
