after drinking everyday for the last 4 or 5 years or so, i have finally decided to quit. i set myself the task on tuesday to not have a single drink for a month. reason being, i spend abot 2 thirds of my wages on drink, im ill all the time, my fitness is down the toilet, im always broke. ive gone 2 nights without a drink so far and im finding it hard to get to sleep at night.
im not a massive massive drinker, i dont drink spirits on weeknights, but ill have anything from 4-8 cans of stella on a weeknight, and considerably more on the weekend, starting drinking as soon as i wake up. finally realising that this is a problem, im taking action. well i havnt just realised this is a problem, but i finally decided to sort my ing life out, and im finding it quite hard.
anyone else ever have a problem like this?

I'm not gonna go into my own history right now, but i came to terms with myself pretty soon after quitting, maybe a month or so. It was then i realized that one thing remains, serious problems getting sleep.
I kicked it back in december 2004, i HAD to start jogging etc. because the only, and i do mean only way i could get myself "naturally" tired. Guess what im trying to say you should give it a try.
But i still, sadly, think it won't ever completely go away, but getting sweat helps ALOT.
Jus mee two cents
BTW what you're going through.. your not alone |

nice one cheers :)
basically it all stems from a crap past, so i just used to get ed to separate myself from it. i kicked the arse out of drugs and allsorts. but i stopped doing pills etc, but drinking is one thing that never stopped. probably cos its so easily available.
my mat says go to the doctor and get him to prescribe me sleeping tablets but i dont want to trade one addiction for what could quite easiy become another.. guess ill just have to ride it out.
EDIT:
i am kinda hoping that after the month that ill feel rejuvinated, and not want to drink as much anymore... still drink when necissary, but so revived that ill not want to go back to where i am now |

I haven't quit, but ive cut down from 4 - 6 days a week drinking to 1 if that.. I can do weeks with out having a drink these days... Running helps me with the sleep less nights, my ruitine now is jog/ run 20 - 30 mins per day, 100 situps, 50 push ups. by 11 pm im snoozing.
Good to cut back on the booze man. |

| good luck jay! possibly doing some type of excersise a few hours before bedtime would help. also are you a tea drinker at all? b/c their are many different types of teas that you could ingest before bedtime that help with relaxing and falling asleep. but excersise is key..i'm having to get myself back into shape for a wedding (not mine) |
