Is this an appropriate diffuser setup?

My speakers are on stands about facing a wall about 6 ft behind them. As you can guess this is a less than optimal listening environment. Moving them is out of the question as is adhering anything like foam padding to the wall :( I was thinking about purchasing Auralex's SpaceArray http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/PSSA22 to install on the wall directly parallel to the speakers (i.e. about 5.5ft high on the wall) The monitors are Alesis M1 Actives, which I use primarily for DJing.

-Is the SpaceArray an appropriate solution?

-Is the placement correct?

-Is it worth $600?

Thanks TA

Can you give me the room dimensions and construction (ie sheetrock or brick walls) I also need the height and as much info as you can give me then I can model it for you.

standard sheetrock.
also, i should mention that the spacearray will be going between two bookshelves. there's a lot i left out of the drawing; but i figured it wouldn't really matter since i can't rearrange the furniture at all. (things pretty much have to stay as they are in the drawing...)

Ok, ho high is the room, width, height.. What is in there and in more detail..

Off the bat I'd say the difusor prolly isn't for you but if you get me the raw data I can prove it either way, and come up with what would work..

Also i need to know where there are windwos and doors please.

May I ask what tool you use for these calculations? This would be very handy for some resarch I need to do for university next year :)

CaraCAD

very cool piece of software. it lets you build a 3D model of your room, your speakers and funrinture, right down to what maerials / design everything is conructed with.

Once you have built your model you can start moving cainging things around to see how they change things. Finally, when you're set with the room design it can do some recursive tests to tell you where you need to site and put your speakers to get the best possible sound.

Finally, hen you actually have built your space it can generate test tones to compare its model against reality and then suggest changes to tweak your room that little bit further.

For the money it's amazing..
