Well, it's only a semi goodbye, and hopefully... HOpefully not permenant. I might hang around here every once in a while when I have nothing to do, but as of last week I'm taking a "maturing" vacation from music until some things in my life change.
If I return to making music, it'll be under a different alias, and my musical style will have hopefully evolved into a more diverse collection of genres.
I am unhappy with alot of my music itself. Though I have made significant improvements since "The Awakening", I have flat-lined on my progress, as well as dipped and spiked. I have been very inconsistent in my output and quality. Nowdays, I'll actually find some of my tracks getting worse in quality, and some that are comming back to better quality. It's like a "comb filter" graph version of progress that's not going anywhere.
Without further ado, here's my mix of all my crap... posted for your, um, affirming of what I have said.
A parade-like wrap-up of the last 2 years
Short Clips from my previous 2 years (in order of appearence):
1. The Awakening (break trance: poor samples, poor mixing (0:00)
2. We Never Walk Alone (Synth Pop: bad mixing, virtually no bass) [0:38]
3. Dancing Immortal (Stadium Trance: bad bass, cheesey use of Superwave P8) [1:36]
4. Highway of Memories (symphonic electronica: experimental) [2:18]
5. Cause and Effect (Stadium Trance: off-beat bass, cheesy harmony) [2:37]
6. Look Into My Heart (Chillout Trance: Nothin' but FL) [3:20]
7. In THe Land Made of CHeese (Cheesey Euro-Trance: you decide) [3:59]
8. Tears of Destiny (Ambient Chill-out: my personal favorite, it had more meaning behind it) [4:46]
9. Nebula Runner (EpiC Trance: not as bass-heavy as "Lord of Bass", but it lacks melodic edge) [5:40]
10. Insert Coins (Video Game music: you decide) [6:00]
11. Industrial Alchemy (experimental Breakbeat) [6:45]
12. Untitled (Euro Trance: chillout) [7:22]
13. Final Euphoria (Hard Progressive experiment -- didn't get along too well) [7:46]
14. Dream Thief (Progressive Ambient Trance: puts you to sleep and steals your dreams, duh) [8:21]
15. Shore of Solitude (Chillout Trance: classical melody influenced, but didn't quite get a full sound)[9:10]
As you can see... I mean, hear... though there are some mixing tweaks that are improving, there are inconistencies in my sound in general. Also, in the past I experimented more than I am today. Experimentation was the heart of my music when I first started, and not I've lost my own sound for the sake of pursuing everyone elses. I also wrote more electronica of various kinds... and though I like trance, I have lost my interest in other modes of electronic music and I want it back.
Electronic Monk is dead... My spirit lives on with you all, and I'll be hautning the boards from time to time.
If I find a different body to possess, I'll:
Start trying to experience life instead of brood in my lair...
Quit pouting and actually meet some females for a change...
Listen to all kinds of music and not simply everything I like...
And I also need a new forum name "Four_On_Four-er" is a sad name based entirely on musical notation. Ha! All my crappy music has been in 4-4 time. |
