Hey i currently use the sony 700 cans and i'm pretty happy with them... however i've been thinking of picking up a pair of Sennheiser HD25's or 7506's. Someone told me that these pairs of headphones cause less hearing damage than the 700's... any truth to that?
thanks!

| If that is true just lower the volume that controls the headphones. |

cool thx
i mean i know the 7506 is excellent and all...
i'm thinking with regard to the sennheiser, it doesn't cover the whole ear, so it perhaps causes less damage? true?
i just love listening to my music LOUD!:) |

that's the problem. doens't matter what make, or style of headphones you use. if you don't turn it down, you will wreck your ears no matter what.
i belive nems can you tell better than anybody. i remember him (at least i think it was him) posting that he can't hear as well from his cueing ear as the other ear. in other words, one ear has more hearing damage than the other.
i also think he's a sennhiser fan too... we'll wait for him to answer that.
i've just ordered another set of plugs, i see them the same way i see condoms.... sure it's more fun w/out them. but i value my health (/hearing), and my future more than the moment. |

That's exactly what I said, but in a sarcastic sort of way, lol. |

i know!
now i'm between the 7506 and the sennheiser... i know they're both excellent but it's a matter of if the sennheiser causes less hearing damage cause it doesn't cover the whole ear- anyone?? |

I think it's better if the headphone covers the entire ear so it isolates or cuts off the external sound as much as possible. That way you can reduce the headphone volume and reduce possible hearing damage.
I've read the the Senn 25 isolates well even though it does not cover the ear. The Sony 7506 covers the entire ear but I'm not sure about that. The Sony 700 has exaggerated bass in comparison to those other headphones.

I've been reading good things about in-ear headphones such as from Ultimate Ears - don't know how they would work out for DJing though.
