get mozilla firefox....it has a good pop-up blocker installed and is much better than internet explorer

XP-SP2 + Google Toolbar works best.

Albeit there are ways of getting around both if someone is really a keener.

Not to get into an Explorer vs. Firefox debate, but just be aware:

Firefox will not render many websites properly (usually because webmasters are not following W3 standards and are coding their sites to be IE compatible since IE has 80% of browser market share).

-------

If you decide to use IE - XP-SP2 and Google Toolbar work fine most of the time.

http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/ :D

(unless they pop up on their own with no browser open, then you may have an ad-ware/spyware problem)

Further:

If you are getting a lot of pops, it may be due to ad-ware that has been installed without you knowing.

Install Windows Defender and scan/remove ad-ware and that may also solve some of your problems: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/sec...re/default.mspx

Yup i just recently got a pretty tough piece of malware on my pc (complete with browser hijack) which i am still trying to resolve. I thought that was the problem originally when i read the title.

That was my own damn fault however, nothing to do with IE or FF lol. I am, simply, an idiot. :sadgreen: :nervous:
