Nobody is more fired up than John Colone, the town's self-styled mayor and owner of a souvenir shop.
"I've got `666' T-shirts and mugs. I'm only ordering 666 (of the items) so once they're gone, that's it," said Colone, also known as Odum Plenty. "Everyone who comes will get a letter of authenticity saying you've celebrated June 6, 2006, in Hell."
Most of Colone's wares will sell for $6.66, including deeds to one square inch of Hell.
Live entertainment and a costume contest are planned. The Gates of Hell should be installed at a children's play area in time for the festivities.
"They're 8 feet tall and 5 foot wide and each gate looks like flames, and when they're closed, it's a devil's head," Colone told The Detroit News for a Saturday story.
Mike "Smitty" Hickey, owner of the Dam Site Inn, wasn't sure what kind of clientele would show up Tuesday.
"We're all about having fun here. I don't think we're going to get the cult crowd, the devil worshippers or anything like that," said Hickey, whose bar's signature concoction is the Bloody Devil, a variant of the Bloody Mary.
Colone, meanwhile, has been in touch with radio stations as far away as San Diego and Seattle that are raffling off trips to Hell in honor of 6-6-6.
The 666 revelry is just the latest chapter in the town's storied history of publicity stunts, said Jason LeTeff, one of its 72 year-round residents -- or, as the mayor calls them, Hellions or Hell-billies. But LeTeff wasn't particularly enthused.
"Now, here I am living in Hell, taking my kids to church and trying to teach them the right things and the town where we live is having a 6-6-6 party," he said.
According to the town's semiofficial Web site, there are two leading theories about how Hell got its name.
The first holds that a pair of German travelers stepped out of a stagecoach one sunny afternoon in the 1830s, and one said to the other, "So schoene hell" -- roughly translated as, "So bright and beautiful." Their comments were overheard by some locals and the name stuck.
The second holds that George Reeves was asked after Michigan gained statehood what he thought the town he helped settle should be called, and reportedly replied, "I don't care, you can name it Hell if you want to." The name became official on October 13, 1841.

Demystifying the numerical sequence of 666

Dear Masters of Light,
We are nearing a very important date: 06-06-06
For many years collective beliefs have held the 666 sequence of numbers within an ominous cloud of mystery. A vast amount of negative energy has been linked with these numbers, so much so that many people become uncomfortable when seeing or hearing them.
Important note:
Creation energy that has been spawned by the nonspecific collective acceptance of mysterious potentials associated with the 666 sequence of numbers, can be utilized by the adversarial forces to fuel limiting profiles within our world of duality.
As love bringers, we choose to never aid the adversary to lightness. For this reason I propose that we consciously focus our positive thoughts and words on this upcoming Tuesday, to support a demystification of the 06-06-06 configuration of numbers.
Our Love Thoughts Will Make a Difference
By consciously choosing love and refuting fear and limitation, we can mentally counter the limiting formations of creation energy that are developed by the ego and fed into our subconscious thought processes. Because ego watches the data retrieval process that is perpetually occurring within the seamless functions of the brain and mind, any data retrieved about the ominous sequence of 666, will likely be used by ego to spawn random inner-dialog. This can be immediately refuted by your conscious mind.
In truth, every day is sacred as we evolve within the Creator's divine plan. Though numbers and their sequences have great significance within the sacred geometric configurations of creation formations, they can only influence that which is allowed. Instead of allowing random thoughts to support the adversary to lightness, we can allow the blessings born through our choices on Tuesday to support the collective wellbeing of this world and our own sacred progression to mastery.
Though others may inadvertently support a fearful or ominous significance in specific words or number configurations, you have a divine right to create your own lexicon of words and numbers that have a potential to influence your life experience.
The Plan
Every day is love with an endless opportunity to express it.
I suggest that we collectively view and define everything in creation as love. A swing set is love. A glass of milk is love. Your automobile is love and all numbers and their configurations are love. In this way, the numbers 06-06-06 are love, love, and love. Wednesday 06/07/06 is also love, love and more love. (This will demystify ominous numbers and actually support the positive energy within all numbers and specific numerical configurations that are energetically determined to hold enhancement properties and potentials.)
Throughout the day, if you perceive the limiting verbiage of ego sponsored random inner-dialog, cancel the thoughts immediately and silently or verbally replace the limiting thoughts with positive affirmations that support your sovereignty, autonomy and the truth of your divine nature.Together we can create a wave of love that will be felt throughout the all and the everything, whereby shifting the numerical sequence of 06-06-06 to a celebration day for love.
