odd mp3 question

does anyone else have mp3s that are only a certain length long [at least as interpretted by the player] but infact the song is longer?
example:
I have a sensation white 2003 armin van buuren mp3 that shows up as only 72 mins long. But, when I play it, it goes to the full 102 mins just like the cue file indicates. When I try to cut the song, musiCutter stops at the 72 min mark, saying it couldn't reach the other file fragments.
sorry if this question has been posted before, but I couldn't find anything helpful when I searched / browsed [including several mp3 faqs and winamp's faq].
winamp's faq had one post similiar to this, with no answer besides update to latest version [which didn't do anything]. |

| the encoding is off; perhaps it's vbr. did you want to fix this? |

| this annoys me too, i have some mp3s, that says its 8mins long, then when i play them the song ends at 2:03 or something other than the stated file size. |
