i am visiting nyc this weekend. and i am going to pick a place to stay by today. but i have no idea about the location and its convenience. the subway and bus looks scary to me. can you guys help me on this ?
I will stay in the city, food, sighseeing and shopping. and I am going to LOVE for Damian and Three on friday night :)

1. www.watersideplaza.com 25th street east (right on the east river) one bedroom apartment
2. 34th st at 2nd Ave. studio
3. a duplex , 2 minute walk (right below) to UNION SQUARE

#1 and #2 are $135/night
#3 $180/night

convenience wise (restaurant, transit, events), which location is good ? or they don't differ much then i will just pick the cheaper one :)

thank you all!

It really doesn't matter if you're not going to use the subway. The difference in cab costs depending on where you pick is going to be under $20 for the entire weekend (more like under $10, I just really highballed in case you take like 6 cabs a day). If you want the closest place to Love, go to Union Square. It's also going to be the busiest. 25th and the east river is pretty quiet with not much around, 34th and 2nd is better, but Murray Hill isn't that exciting either.

But as I said, they're all fairly close if cost is your issue (4-5 streets = 1/5 mile = $.40. Avenues are wider, so like 1-2 aves).

Also, either 34th or Union Square would be best if you even consider using the subway. Union Sq. is one of the main hubs.

I live in Murray Hill and it is pretty quiet compared to the East Village (24/7 madhouse). I know the Washington Square/West 4th street & 6th Ave stop is only a few blocks from Love. The A,C,E trains all go to this stop, along with the F,V trains (it seems). Something to keep in mind if you were thinking about jumping on the trains.

I would probably choose Number 3... seems like the most action will be around there.

I don't know if I'd pay $45/night more, strictly on location, though.

Good point... you can use the money you save on rooming on a good restaurant in the 34th & 2nd Ave location. There are a ton of good restaurants around there.

I'd say it's worth the extra $45 a night based on convenience alone since he's within walking distance of union square. Much more stuff happening there than in a quieter residential Murray Hill area.

all good advices, TAs!! although the one around union square looks tempting, I have reserved the studio located Murray Hill at $125/night. :) hope to meet some of you this friday night.
