Open Top Kayak

I'm thinking about getting my folks a Kayak for Lac Sam.

The Open Top ones seem appealing (if only cause they are cheaper). Anyone had any first hand experience with them?

Looking for feedback

I don't know anything about kayaking but, I'm going to bump this thread in hopes that someone else will see it and help you. But don't tell anyone. ;)

Make sure you fit in it properly because my fat friend almost died when he rolled over in the water. His fatness got the best of him.

Open top kayaks are good. One of my kayaks is an open top kayak that is specifically for surf. I will postr more later, I'm in rush!

WHERE'S MY KAYAK?!

washout
oh my god.
kayak and kayak fishing are taking over my favorite waterways.
i swear to god tho.
they are all like dumb boaters.
boaters at least know , redneck or not, on the water.
boaters hate jet skiers.
im have 2 skis, and i hate other jet skiers.
now we all hate kayakers.
they are taking up narrow waterways the are fun to speed and cruise thru.
not only that, but i work at a boat shop.
newbs come in and are like "i wanna by a kayak."
GET THE AWAY.
hi.

The stability of an open-top makes it ideal for beginners. You're "Friend" was doing something wrong, because even if you manage to roll, you are free to flip it over, and hop back on, because of the "Sit-on-top" style. Unless you are using knee-straps on your open-top, you should be able to do this worry free.

Personally, I just think you are a liar, Damien.

It took me almost 1 second to understand.

I blame the tardiness of my thought on Agneli & Nelson - Holding Onto Nothing (PVD remix) which was occupying a significant amount of my attention.

The guy at the store said that a down side of the open top ones was that you got wet? And tracking might be an issue (seemed like they only put in good tracking lines on the more expensive ones )
