Ok, so.. I made a blog post on MySpace about ETN losing it's stream sponsor (true) and next thing I know every dance music forum is lit up with people overjoyed that we're closing down (not true yet sorry).
The reason I didn't post that information to any forums is because forums (except ours of course ;) are filled with people with nothing better to do than bitch and flame... plus I've had many years of internet broadcasting to make enemies, partly because I used to be a forum trawler who would get into stupid arguments or flamewars. (now I only do that in the chatroom)
anyway, I wanted to make a much different post but I don't have time right now and I need to get this on the main page to try to combat all the misinformation that's being circulated.
FACT: yes, I did write that blog entry that's gotten pasted around all over the place
FICTION: it says that we're shutting down
FACT: Our primary stream sponsor is shutting down their entire shoutcast hosting program at the end of June
FICTION: DI killed ETN. They have the same sponsor we do it's just that since they're a commercial entity with plenty of subscribers and advertising revenue, they are not dependant on the sponsor like we are
FACT: Every person associated with ETN and even a few that aren't are doing their best to find us another stream sponsor so we can continue with no interruptions
FICTION: ETN is full of "second rate bedroom DJs that love the sound of playing to themselves and really have no talent and have never played the club scene"
FACT: every person who says that is talking out of their ass and dosen't know about ETN and we're better off that they aren't part of our community
FICTION: ETN is shutting down at the end of June.
Yes, shutting down is an option. It's one of several including finding another sponsor or merging with another station. When we know something for certain, so will you. via THIS website. Don't believe a ing thing you hear about us on any forum other than our own
FACT: We have always been, and always will be a station wholly supported by our community. We make no money and therefore can only survive by donations... be they cash, hardware, bandwith, or talent.
FACT: ETN will NEVER be a subscription/pay station while Will is involved
FICTION: ETN closing would be the end of shows by [insert your favorite DJ/show here]
FACT: if ETN has to close down, I will be personally facilitating as many shows as possible getting moved to other stations. Some of you are going to be very suprised where I send some shows to (if it comes to that)
FACT: The only thing we need to survive is bandwith. If you or anyone you know is in a position to donate large (and I mean LARGE) amounts of bandwith in exchange for advertisement as our sponsor, please get them in touch with me as soon as possible. My email is will at etn.fm

In part yes, but these make themselves idiots - for each and everyone visible - simply put. Others stay in a constructive mood or just show sadness.

Not sad, really. I never had so many stream outages before, most of the ETN stream servers haven't been available lately (except most often the SFO and / or the IL server). I do NOT mean the "ETN is heavily buffering" story, to make that clear. One year ago the stream was extremely reliable but that changed during the last few months.
