Tuss, your post in another thread, spawned the below rant.. and it was long enough to warrant a New Thread. :p

I don't like Xone's......... :p
Well, that's not completely true, however lastnight while I was down at the local DJ shop to order my new mixer (it was a toss between Xone32 and Nuo3) I was talking with the salesman and he had mentioned they just got 3 brand new Xone mixers in on saturday. An 02, 62 & 92.. and myself, never having ever touched one in person, asked to have him pull it out and set it up for me to see what it was like. So he pulled out the Xone62...
Yes, they are gorgeous mixers.
Yes, they have amazing faders.
Yes, they have excellent sounds quality.
But thats where it ended...
The 4 band eq's, didn't impress me at all, the 2 mids didn't change the levels nearly as much as I would have hoped, not to mention the lack of FULL cuts across the board really put a damper on my views.
Then, what I was most curious about... The filters. Nice, but nothing amazing IMO. They wouldn't fit in with the genre I spin, nor my mixing style. In all honesty, they were boring to use.
Two of Xone's biggest features (aside from sound quality & faders which can be found on other mixers) and I wasn't impressed. So, that seriously took the Xone32 out of the picture for my purchase, which left me with the Nuo3... hbut then itas no filters or effects.. which I figured was boring as well, and wouldn't help me progress and grow as a DJ.
So I went with something else.. :disbelief
Disclaimer: This is my personal preference and in no way was posted to start a flame war.. |

| like i always say, its ALWAYS ALWAYS personal preferance. what genre do you spin by the way? also you wont hear a huge difference in the mids with near field monitors. if you hear it on a huge system, you will be able to tell. i wanna know what mixer you got too, stop being a tease :toothless |

I do actually agree with you on this... The 4 band eq s me a fair bit and should make much more of an impact to my mixing than it does. My mate feels the same way and just sold his xone 92 and brought a Rane mixer with an efx-1000... This kinda annoyed me because he was talking about getting the vestax Carl Cox mixer for ages (which is a very fekking noice peice of kit).
Anyway I must admit I prefer the newer purchaces. The xone's are quite hyped up about there great faders and sound quality and yeah they do have that, apart from that there filters annoy the out of me and are not very user friendly. |

that is true, the filters are not that user friendly but once you get the hang of them, you can do a whole lot. i love combining the high pass and the mid pass filter and using them like that. |

I spin Psytrance... and I mainly plan to use my setup with Near field monitors so the EQ's really wouldn't have been a benefit..

well its obviously not a Xone and its something pretty good but a little out of the ordinary.
Urei's and Bozaks have been posted in the bedroom thread - and would probably be out of his price range.
Rane's have been posted.
I'm thinking possibly its a big Vestax one. Maybe a DJM-1000. |
