| to be honest im not a fan of people telling others what software to use as sequencer...some people are stronger using one app as opposed to another. i mean armin himself uses logic yet i choose cubase because i beleive that my comfort with the software and everything cubase has to offer for my purposes balance well...and i think that's what people need to look for. if after maybe a year or two reason just isnt cutting it, maybe u should move on to something else...or if its everything that you ever wanted, then just run with it and see what happens. i dont think there's any one golden app to create trance and ofcourse there are those who might argue that completely hardware is the way to go (although i personally disagree). just know that there's no one template for anything in the trance business...i can recommend just to trust ur intuition when it comes to this sort of stuff... |

Everyone has thier own taste. You can't say "hey how do I sound like him?" because you never will. You can however be influenced by his style, sound, and overall audio architecture. What i have learned in my 3.5 years of producing on a professional platform ( which is also up for debate. Started in Fruity for 2 now on SX for 3.5) is that everyone has to sequence and learn, and make patches and learn. These forums have helped me and Full Sail helped me, but in the end it has been my own drive to make beautiful music that has been the ultimate instigator into the realm of great sonic quality. My Virus TI, JP 8080, and the Vengence Clubsounds have also helped quite a bit. If you haven't already, look into those.

So this is my first post in this part of the forum, I have recently got into producing and im just using my PC right now. Im using Reason 3.0... The reason I post this topic is because im having serious trouble coming up with some decent sounding Basslines and I was wondering if you guys have any hints, tips or tutorials that could help me out in creating some decent ones?
P.S I used the search and it came up with nothing!

jeese guys. chillout. the guy has got your attention so either ignore him or give him advise. dont waste more time slating him.
i quite liked the thread title..haha
anyways. why not try listening to tried and tested tracks that you like. take not of the bassline and modify it by one note. when youre happy with your bassline you have made then work from there... that should work until you get an idea of where you wanna go.

Do you even know what you're talking about?
Reason is more than fine for producing professional quality tracks.
Only thing Reason really lacks is in the synths. There's only two, albeit powerful ones. Reason is an excellent learning tool, yes. It's very easy to use. But don't ever say that you can't make quality tracks with it, that's just not true. You just have to work a little harder because of the limitation of synths. |
