I thought I would take the time and help some noobs and new producers
Question One "How do I start to produce?"
1)Do like the rest of us TA's, do some research!!! find out that host program are out there, soft synths, samples etc, well thats at least what I did.
I know a real good friend of mine, he goes by the name google
Question Two "How Do I make this sound"
2)I'll tell you, no one is going to server you the anwser on a silver plater, it takes time and patients, find a similair sound and try tweaking it?? well thats at least what I did.
Question Three "How Do I make a proper bassline?"
3)Well I can't awnser that one, after more then a year, I still can't make a proper sounding bassline, maybe start out with a preset or a plane old sinewave, experiment, add some delay, little reverb. Some one correct me if I'm wrong
Question Four "How can I sound like producer so and so?"
4)Put in enough years, hard work and modivation, you never know what will happen.
If all else fails do a god dam search or read the stinkies
My biggest piece of advise, SIT DOWN AND EXPERIMENT,its hard work, but thats at least what I did :) |

I may not be a pro but well, for 90% off the time i build the track around the percussions and bassline.
the first thing i do is to decide if the bassline should be a rolling one or not.
if i cant decide i experiment one that sounds good in my ears, everyone has their own taste so a bassline you think is Teh p00n might sound to others.
I always add a very little amount off reverb to a bassline and some delay to give it a "warm & wet" feel.
there is only two different occasions when i use a decent to alot of reverb on basslines and thats when i have layered a high mid an low sound for bassline or when reverb just fits the bassline.
an important thing for me is also to have a kick that doesnt interfere with the bassline and vice versa, sometimes i get that better then other times.
well.. im pretty sure ppl wont agree with my thoughts on basslines (or maybe my thoughts on basslines are pretty logical and resonable). |
