JOHN TEJADA

Normally associated with his peers in Techno from Detroit, Europe, U.S.A. and elsewhere in the world, John Tejada has embraced electronic music as a personal frontier expanding on his formidable resume as a Techno recording artist and producer as well as remixer, DJ, and label owner. With dozens of singles, remixes, some film and TV work and contributions to sample CDs to his credit, this recent expansion has born a slew of tracks deeply informed by his uncompromised aesthetic (honed over years of diligent production) which finds its roots in Detroit Techno but references a far broader range of music, both in and outside of electronic music. His musically formative years were steeped in Classical music, growing up in family of performing artists, his mother a soprano singer and his father an orchestra conductor. This classical education then widened to include hip hop, DJing and finally, electronic music.

Known for crafting a brand of subtle, musical techno, his recorded output, ranges across tempo and genres, from chilled out affairs with spacious arrangements to pulsating, densely layered, deeply energetic tracks that work magnificently in the hands of DJs as well as on the home stereo.

Earlier on, his music found release on labels such as A13, Multiplex and Generation R&S. Following on to those successes he established his own imprint in 1996, Palette Recordings based in Los Angeles, and has enjoyed 10 years of steady growth and recognition. The label has served as an exclusive outlet for his own prodigious outputs but has recently begun to expand its roster. John Tejada has also continued to record for other labels such as Plug Research, 7th City, Pokerflat, Moods and Grooves, deFocus and many others, often with his 11 year long collaborator, Arian Leviste. Alongside these numerous singles he has also produced 8 albums, two for A13, and one on each of the following labels; Playhouse, deFocus, Pokerflat, Plug Research, Moods and Grooves and Palette.

MOSSA

First and foremost a musician with 10 years of classical music under his belt, Mossa's instrumental background comes to color his electronic compositions. His appetite for deconstruction led him towards hard-core music, but his passion for jazz and other musical influences always followed him through his musical journey. After years as a DJ, Mossa has ventured into producing , combining his many styles to create a body of work rhythmically solid and subjective, which is at times minimalist, amusing, and rarely symmetrical. Using an assortment of plastic and static sounds collected here and there, he arranges an eclectic bouquet of rhythm and kick. He has released on such labels as Cynosure, Mo’s Ferry, Mutek, Floppy Funk and Orac and has been remixed by supreme producers like Mike Shannon, John Tejada and Ark. One of his milestones is his forthcoming album “Some Eat it Raw” on Circus Company. With his record label Complot, Mossa is also dedicated to releasing, along with fellow artists, an uncompromising style in house music and minimal techno, bringing an air of freshness to the Montreal scene.

JON SCHMIDT

Part time wino, full time record junkie, JON has a penchant for intelligent minimal, sparse techno, and stripped down grooves. Southern Transplant now living in Boston, Jon has exported his talent north of the border to join DISKHO and become a full blown resident of their STATIK nights. He can now also boast his addition to the roster of Montreal based record label Archipel.
