Its that time of the year again as we celebrate spring season Toronto style. On Saturday April 6th 2002, 416 Productions proudly presents “ENERGY NATION”, bringing you some of the most innovative cutting edge international and local DJs Toronto has seen to date. For this event we’ve managed to assemble a roster of talent which will leave the T.O. massive talking about it for years to come. Toronto get ready to be assaulted by these mortals as they unleash their inner most power.

ARENA 1: TRANCE / PROGRESSIVE
DJ HARDWARE – South Beach, Florida
(1Pure Music Recordings, POD, Hardware World Distribution, 1Groove.com)
DJ Hardware (Todd Greenhouse) is one the purveyors of the underground Dance Music culture. Since leaving Boston in 1990 and moving to South Florida, Hardware has fueled the underground dance scene by providing a broad mixture of sounds. This musical diversity has allowed him to conquer various corners of the world by working the crowds into a massive, dancing frenzy. Hardware has always been on the cutting-edge of music, continuously experimenting with new sounds while retaining his artistic integrity by avoiding the mainstream. DJ Hardware has started his mission to conquer the world. From spinning at remote outdoor raves, and warehouse parties to headlining major events across the globe. Hardware is taking his unique style of mixing to the masses. Whether it's hard trance, funky breaks or acid-house, he's a force to be reckoned with when it comes to energizing a crowd.

MARCO DUX BABY - Stuttgart, Germany
(Noom, DAMN!)
Marco has been spinning his unique blend of Tech/Trance across Europe for the past decade, residing at Germany’s club Toy, Circuit and Jailhouse. He also regularly appears at a number of Swiss clubs and has produced with Commander Tom (Noom) and toured with him around the world, including Toronto’s World Electronic Music Festival (WEMF).

S4 – Ottawa, Ontario
(ETA / NU Energy Recordings Canada / Fused)
The progression of events that lead to success is a road hard traveled. But Brad has been more than willing to take the initiative. His DJing career has been moving in leaps and bounds since he first started laying down trax in the spring of 1997. His intense love of trance music and a serious ear for new sounds, found Brad's plate selection next to none in his genre. Constant practice and record selection led to some of the most innovative mixing and tight sets, which was getting him noticed quickly by party go'ers and promoters alike. The name S4 has been seen on flyers all across Canada, especially in the Montreal, Toronto region. Brad has played with such talent as Chris Liberator, Madam Zu, and John the Dentist. S4's selection of hard/nu-nrg trance and raging acid techno, as well as his ability to pull off tight, smooth mixes, allows him to be one the most versatile DJs behind the decks, and promises him a place at the top.

Locals
OS/2 – Toronto (Boscaland, Chug ‘n’ Bump, Noom, Destiny, DAMN!)
Dr. Trance – Toronto (1groove.com, Destiny, TTC, Ascension, DAMN!)
St. Pete – Toronto (DMT, 1groove.com)
Lyphe – Toronto (Digital Tangerine, TR Radio, Electric Orange)
G2 – Toronto (416 Productions)

ARENA 2: TECHNO / UK HARDHOUSE / HARD NRG
T-1000 – Detroit, Michigan
(Pure Sonik Records/www.puresonikrecords.net/Fused)
Alan D. Oldham has been called "Detroit Techno's Renaissance Man" (Muzik, UK). A lifelong cartoonist and graphic designer, a young Oldham published his own comic book "Johnny Gambit" in 1987 to local notoriety. Hired that same year by his childhood friend Derrick May to illustrate several memorable pieces for the new Transmat label, this led to Oldham's first involvement in the fledgling techno scene. Besides his art and writing, 1987 also saw Oldham's radio debut on Detroit's WDET-FM with the long running "Fast Forward" program. Originally meant to be a free-form rock, jazz and fusion show, Oldham's passion for both local and international electronic music gradually took center stage until it finally became the only radio program in Detroit to feature techno and house music exclusively. The early cassette, reel-to-reel and four-track material of such (now) well-known international artists as Underground Resistance, Carl Craig, Kenny Larkin, Octave One, Anthony Shakir and Richie Hawtin made its on-air debut here, as well as being the first and only show to break international acts like Moby, Joey Beltram, 808 State, LFO, Front 242, Nitzer Ebb and others in Detroit. In 1992, Jeff Mills left Underground Resistance to become a solo act. "Mad" Mike Banks, needing an immediate replacement DJ for a month-long Australian live tour, tapped Oldham for the job. Without rehearsals, Oldham took the leap of faith that changed his life. Jumpstart into infamy. Leaving his increasingly-thankless WDET airshift behind forever and adopting the onstage persona of DJ T-1000 (taken from the shape-shifting liquid metal cyborg in "T2"), Oldham began rocking decks for UR and never looked back, setting the stage for subsequent UR "assault DJ's" Rolando and James Pennington. After over a decade in the music business, DJ T-1000's goal of World Sonik Domination still hasn't been achieved, and he's not about to retire. Rocking show after show worldwide and continuing his vinyl and CD assaults in the record shops and the live circuit in the face of overhyped, overpaid, untalented trance and big beat competition from the UK is his goal as he and Pure Sonik Records plunge into the millenium.

DJ MORGAN – San Francisco, California
(Lotek Records/HardNRG.com/Fused)
Recognized as America's HardNRG Pioneer, Morgan is at the forefront of this up and coming genre. His dedication to the music is evident with each new project. Last year Morgan founded HardNRG.com with the help of like-minded DJs, creating North America's first and foremost resource for news, reviews, and articles surrounding the world of UK Hard House and Nu-NRG. More recently, Morgan founded America's First HardNRG Record Label, "Lotek Records". Partnering with another local San Francisco DJ, Kemical Kidd, they stand primed to represent the US in this new, innovative sound. Lotek is Internationally distributed by Alphamagic, and features such artists as Dynamic Intervention, Chris C, Superfast Oz of OD404 and DJ Kristian. Morgan first started mixing soon after attending the early San Francisco underground parties in 1992. Inspired by what he saw and heard, Morgan quickly picked up his first pair of turntables in 1993. His early influences came from the original Funky Tekno Tribe parties, by watching such DJs as DJ Dan, Donald Glaude, and Graeme. Over the next few years he spent much of his time learning the art of mixing, phrasing, and programming. Today Morgan is recognized for his unique ability to seamlessly blend one track into the next while never losing sight of the overall effect he has on his audience.

DJ Impact – Ottawa, Ontario
(JitterJaw, Darkside, Brickhouse)
This young hardhouse phenom has been destroying dance floors all over southern ontario this past year. Hailing from Ottawa, Ontario, this guy has beaten the odds and emerged as an excellent mixer as well as a skilled showman behind the decks. Always keeping the crowd moving is what sets this guy apart. A newcomer to keep your eyes on.
