****All video's are in Xvid format****
This is by no means a great track, or finished track just a basic tutorial that may help some people get started in the right direction.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Fxs used - delay and reverb, on Lead and Pad
*** some Steps not shown in video, becuase software woould not allow recording of sub menu's, read**
Step 1 - Create a chopped lead sound
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Video
Chopped Lead mp3
1)First Load one of you favourite Vsts, I used one of my fav korg legacy Cell
2)Create a Chopped lead like the one shown, if you can't come up with something yourself, feel free to copy mine
3)Clone or load another vst, copy and paste lead into the second vst pianoroll
4)play back Pattern adjust each vsts volume, so one doesn't over power the other
This will be your first Pattern
**I used 2 vsts to make the sound fuller, experiment with whatever sound you want**
Step 2 - Create Pad
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Pad Video
Pad mp3
1) Now load two of your favourite kick drums, A openhihat, A clap or snare, A bass sample or use vst, and a reverse cymbal.
2) Load another vst with a nice bright pad, I used V-station, copy chopped lead created before, select pattern 8 and paste, now switch to pianoroll and we are going to create a pad out of our chopped lead, just drag each note to the next corresponding note, like in the video
Step 3 - Sidechain Pad
--------------------------------------------------------------------
SideChian Pad Part 1
SideChain Pad Part 2
Sidechain Pad mp3
1)Now that we have the pad, we are going to sidechain it, (thats where the second kickdrum comes into play)
2)Set your Pad vst to FX channel 1 - Load the bloodoverdrive, adjust the post gain, so when the pad is sidechained its not going to be at full volume, turns out I set mine half way, may be different for your Pad.
3)Now goto your second kick drum and load it to a different fx channel 5, and load the fruity peak controller, make sure mute is clicked on in orange, while play back adjust the different knobs shown.
4)Now select the piano roll for your second kick drum, (the one we just sent to fx channel 5, with the peak controller) we going to put a kick drum on every note, the same lenght as the pad.
** some Steps not shown in video, becuase software woould not allow recording of sub menu's***
5) Last step right click on the volume control for your pad and select, link to controller, remote controll settings window will come up, under internal controller, "Peakctrl(insert5)peak+LFO", then under mapping formula, select "inverted" click accept.
6) play back your pattern, play around with the bloodover drive post gian(FX1), and peak controller(fx5) until it sounds correct.
Step 4 - Adding Kickdrum, bass, hihats etc and song layout
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Kick Drum & Bass Video
Crash Cymbal & Filter Noise
Hihats and Snare Video
Reverse Crash Video
Song Layout Video
1) Now we are going to add all the other elements, bassdrum, bass, hihats, clap or snare, reversecrash etc
2) Select Pattern 2, add a kickdrum to every 4th note (this is on your first kickdrum sample, one you will hear in the song) now put a bassnote, on every 3rd note, like so
3)now go to pattern 3, add a crash cymbal as shown
4)Go to Pattern 4 put put filter noise on every 3rd note
5)Go to pattern 5 put clap or snore as shown
6)add your hihats as shown
7)add your reversecrash/hihat
ok almost done
So now if you look you should have
Pattern 1 - chopped Lead
Pattern 2 - Kickdrum and Bass
Pattern 3 - Crash cymbal
Pattern 4 - filter noise
Pattern 5 - Clap or snare
Pattern 6 - Open Hihats
Pattern 7 - Reversehihat
Pattern 8 - Sidechained Pad
8) Now open your playlist editor - and layout each sound like in the video, press play (dont forget to switch to song mode)
Song Sample
expermient with your bassline, hihats, claps etcs, this jsut a very basic layout, but will hopefully get some people in the right direction. |
