Why not just use the TI as your soundcard?
mysticalninja
Cause then you only get audio out the Ti analog outs, and everything goes out the TI outs, even cubase audio.

I can use the Virus Ti Asio drivers, but then you can only use analogue outs, and everything in cubase goes through your virus outputs.. Going back to 1.9 it is for me I guess till I get a new soundcard.

Ummm, I hate to say it again and sound like a crack record but this happens on my Virus B (without the TI feature of course) and is not exclusively a Virus problem.

You can work around it by recording all parts from the Virus through the analogue outs (and not the VST plugin thingy) in a separate project with low CPU and memory load.

Many people, including myself have been doing this for years. I thought from your post that the OS update made your Virus physically not work :( That would really suck if it wasnt fixable.

What your talking about sounds like your DAW running out of juice when a project gets too complex and midi clock becoming unstable. What im talking about IS a virus (TI) exclusive problem.

With 1.1, using the vst plugin in cubase, I can't play a SINGLE note without it hanging forever untill I press the panic button.

try uninstalling ti software from your sytem completely, nuke the vst plug in.. and if you're not too shy and so inclined, clean up registry.

Upgrade and re-install.

not sure if u tried or not, but figure I'd chime in =)

I bought a TI polar, I have been trying to run it with cubase un-successfully. People have been saying that some of this issues are hardware defects and not bugs at all. Would you guys recomend getting the desktop version instead? its messed up because the sound is amazing, Compared to my virus classic... it really is an awsome synth.

You have rigged it up incorrectly if its doing that. A synth cannot output audio from any source other than itself unless you are connecting analogue outs on your soundcard and feeding it to the inputs on the synth and telling it to process an external signal. In the case of the Virus you would have connect your soundcard outs to the vocoder on the TI. Even then you have to enable the vocoder for that to work.

If you got nothing plugged into the TI inputs then it cannot possibly playback anything other than the sounds it generates itself and you are fecking up the recording process on the software side.

The only other thing I can think of is that the TI is set to record and playback through cubase's mixer and your audio interface's software mixer at the same time, thereby recording everything else on the same channel in cubase and sometimes resulting in doubled up recordings from the Virus.

The solution to that problem is to disable monitor mixer on your soundcard's software mixer or mute the inputs which the TI is connected to on the soundcard mixer when recording.

If its set up properly theres absolutely no way you can get problems like this via analogue out recording.

It doesnt make any sense for there to be hardware defects with it. Its the same engine using the same code on the same DSP (x2) and using most of the same components as any other Virus. That and I have never even heard of a Virus owner that had an out of the box hardware defect with it.

I just skimmed your post, no time to read it all now, but remember with VTI you get audio through USB, and when using VTI as master Asio driver (which is what I was refering to in the sentence you quoted) all sound, even cubase audio, goes through the usb into the TI and then can only come out of analogue outs from there.

It's not a hardware defect, it's software, remember the new 1.1 OS update caused all these problems for me, and it only happens when using the vst plugin. For most people 1.1 seems to have improved the vst, but i've seen at least 2 other people who 1.1 seems to have ruined it for them, one of them is also an audigy owner.

You should read the virusti forums then :tongue2 youd be surprised. I've seen quite a number of people complaining about these kind of problems without the usb even plugged in, just using it like a virus D. Mine works flawlessly until I start up Cubase and go into sequencer mode and load up the vst..

Rumor has it they shipped a good ammount with hardware problems at first, and thats why they stopped shipping to retailers for a few months. Access will say this is because they didn't want to sell any more TI's untill 1.1 was out. You decide whats truth. =)

I just sent my TI polar back for the desktop, after the email I got back from Access. They said 98% people were happy with the update and what my TI was doing was "not normal". So I just sent it in....

mysticalninja
I think i'll try that too, first i'm going to try and reinstall the OS though. Man why would you trade the sexy polar for the boring desktop? =D I think I might go for a KC since I only have a 62 keys keyboard..

well my deskspace is limited.. and i already have a radium remote. Plus I dont plan on doing anything live with it. so... save some money and get another syth..!
