I think black is the essence of TA, it just wouldn't feel like TA if it was anything else but black. Although it would be cool to have other options in v.2.0, if there ever will be a v.2.0 |

| When i was first visited this site the black backround wasnt too appealing to me for a forum. But it was because i wasnt used to seeing forums with these colors. After a lil bit of trolling around i soon realized that the colors of TA are prolly the best ive seen on the net. |

black is very easy on the eyes.
think, your eyes are sore, do you go to a dark room, or out to stare @ the sun.
yes, sometimes it is harder to read off colour fonts (lack of contrast) but its much easier than staring @ a white screen for hours. |

| i think black is neutral, colors scream out loud. If we ever move to a v2.0, then maybe consider user preferences but keep a base skin by default. to be honest and incomparison to the others boards i visit, black is the easiest to load on sites/forums which a high user base and a ton of content. |

People who use the computer more are going to want black (along with the ones who just like the color), and casual users prefer white because that's what they're used to.
Google can be white because we often use it for a quick search then we move on to our result. Forums are browsed constantly, and making one white would make it like staring at a lightbulb. Darker colors are a good choice for a site that is read frequently.
While I agree that black on white is 'clearest', it just hurts the eyes if you look at it for too long. |
