im not to into hardstyle but im listening to this defqon anthem track and im just wondering if anyone know how they keep those kind of kicks so clean yet reverbed? anytime ive tried to reverb a kick it getsall messy and clicks and all kinds of horrible things.......this sounds VERY reverbed (wet) with a long tail.....yet very clean...any ideas ..im bored
Dj Cola
how long is the tail?
maybe they have a long tail but with a lil amount of real reverb?

gtg to school.
BOOsTER
gated reverb maybe? or compression on the reverb so it makes the tail audible but not so long to make track unclear?

Two layerd kicks. One dry and one with the effects.

Yep... this is probably very true.

Hi,
what I would find easier is putting your kick fx on a send channel...

then if you send your kick to the send you get a sort of "copy" of your kick which gets "effected"
then you can easily gate/compress/adjust the tail of your reverb :-)

that just came on my mind...hope it helps:-)

layering two would not make it clean..im talking about a nice clean reverb...maybe you could layer two and put a highpass on the reverb'ed one or something.....but i dont see how putting two would help......could just highpass the 1 by itself......any new ideas?

generally I wouldn't want to go in hard sound...but hey...this sounded interesting...I'm not sure if I get right what sound you're after but you might want to check my sample at http://tmp.djbooster.net/verbkick.mp3 tell me if it's it :) or if it's close ... if it is we can build it into what you need ;)
Emperor
well booster that is what i meant....thats what happens when you reverb a kick.........you hear all the dirtyness after the kick??that doesnt really expetend the kick.....just adds a bunch of dirty sounding 'air' after it.....
mysticalninja
most likely a layred kick.

Emperor
you guys and your 'layered kicks'...haha.......YES most people layer a few kicks to make new ones...if they dont know how to design them from scratch.....im not talking about layers.....im tlaking about ..length...or reverb..
Emperor
listen to the 'anthem' on this page....for the kick drum
