It's officially Monday and let's see if I can string out a few sentences.:DLOL For the record, I personally had a better time at this party than Steve Lawler's the next night at the Guv. However, Lawler owned his crowd compared to DJ Vibe at SONIC. This makes a HUGE, HUGE difference if the crowd is at ONE with the DJ...
Anyway, I believe my expectations were simply too high for Antonio "To" Pereira to live up to. My entire goal throughout the whole night was to find out exactly why for so long people called this man "The Magician". I was totally waiting for this mortal to become a GOD on the decks and take me on a magical journey. It didn't happen, but I definitely went somewhere. My question is that I simply do not know where exactly...
My realization is that you can not reach enlightenment when you are searching for it. PERIOD!!! :stongue:
For the last couple of months I convinced myself that DJ Vibe was going to be "chosen one" and my own Personal Jesus. In my mind, my hopes and aspirations for Portugal's beloved DJ would turn him into a dirty, dark tribal shaman for me. I brainwashed myself into believing he was going to take me on a vision quest like at a sweatlodge. I was truly hoping to learn more things about myself through his music and find myself. LOL Anyway, I didn't use peyote like what Native People use for these rituals, but I substituted other fun substances for the night.:eyes:
Anyway, I consider myself a very open minded person. Every DJ has an off night and I'm always willing to give anyone another chance. Perhaps, sometime in the future I'll venture to STEREO for one of his residency nights in Montreal. Who knows?
I'm going to bold enough to say it here. I would en love to see DJ Vibe again. But, next time I wanna see him at the Guv/KoolHaus complex...hahaha:toocool: The bigger venues add pressure on the DJ at large. Sometimes, in fact trainwrecks happen for these type of DJ's. However, I believe DJ Vibe would feed off a crowd that's willing to take a chance on his journey. He's the type of DJ that would live and breathe grace under presure. Like somebody else wrote, they felt Vibe was holding back. He's your true archetypical Hemingway Hero. At SONIC he definitely wanted to take you on a ride to pure bliss, but he personally couldn't feel the vibe there. It's very sad when DJ Vibe can not feel the vibe himself because of the crowd. Timing in life is absolutely everything!!!
It's all about taking a chance and walking into the unknown...;) |

fun review, however I'm gonna disagree with you on this one. Unless a CD skips on them, there is no reason in hell why any professional dj should be trainwrecking.
(not that Vibe trainwrecked, but just saying) |

sooooo close to getting to see this Maestro of music..........but random events (a.k.a. VIBE-FUKKERS) conspired against it for me personally.......
so the question that I ask....
how FREAKING good was this guy and what did I miss???????
POST THAT !
event review - do it up proper people......

pay no attention to the people that are bashing vibe...He spun an amazing tribal set...the only thing i didn't like is when he threw in some normal house tracks, in between....Over all great set |

agreed. This one had vocals, I think I heard Ryan say it was Dj Simi's (spelling? of Deep Dish remix fame) remix.
He also played Goldfrapp - Number One, I'm too lazy too look up the remix. |

Great night... too lazy to type a bok, so point form it is.
-Nevio- terrible. im sorry, but he has been better than this... just terrible. There's always next time tho, and everyone has an off night.
-vibe- uber tunes... dirty tracks, deep vocals.... totally smoking the decks, better than C & C, Although if C & C had given their all @ sonic, I could see them ruining VIBE ;)
-TA'S- saw more @ vibe than i did at lawler which is funny considering there was a bigger roll call for guv.
Great night, great tunes... I always remember tunes for their lyrics, so i'll have to get ry to name them off instead for me.
regardless, this was one fantastic wknd~~!!
ps. NADA AND MK FTW <3 |
