I voted Canada...I was born and raised here.

since I have German ancestry (and since Canada will never make the World Cup, lol), I'm always pulling for Germany.

Anyone who's grown up here their entire life, but who voted for another country...they should be deported to said country :D

anyways i dont see what the point of this thread is anyways

we all know canada will never make the world cup again with such powerful footballing nations such as jamaica, trinidad and tobago and etc in their qualifying groups!

Canada wont make the world cup because there is not enough support here. Why? because all the canadians are busy supporting foreign teams. Hence, the money is not there for canada and the talent ends up playing in europe.

baahha. Canada. World Cup.

But yeah I'd cheer for Russia, although they have as much chance of making it to world cup as do the canadians.
Goashem
there isnt support because the soccer fans feel left out due to the lack of media interest. soccer is heavily down played, especially domestic. so theres no investment from the government into the development of the sport in the country and so obviously people have nothing to support.
but look at what the mls done in the united states, it brought soccer into the spotlight and changed things around for the americans. maybe it could do the same here.

Why can't we cheer for both?

this is a problem with canada. who's really canadian?

i remember canada played jamaica here recently and there were more jamaican fans than canadian. that's pathetic. i came to this country 13 years ago and started playing soccer right away cuz i used to play in my home country and from what i've seen in the past 13 years is that canada hasn't much developed as a soccer nation. what do you expect when you show national spelling bee competitions over major soccer games in the world? good luck canada!

Well what about when the two teams play each other, and one scores a goal? Do you go "YYEEEAAAA!" or "Ohhhhhhhhhhhh!"?

BRILLIANT!

Love how so many peps, even if they were born or raised in Canada all their lives and have never been to the country of the parents (or maybe not even, but the country where their grandparents came from), but they STILL identify with that country for some reason more than they do Canada! Its kinda scary and backward if you logically look at it...

If you were born here, then YOUR roots are in Canada (if your parents were born there, then THEY have roots in said country, you still dont, except through them.... so why one would identify then more w/ that country... I dont get)

Baffles me logically. I dont think you'd see that in many other country around the world. I really dont.

its usually the parents who push that kind of thinking on them.

Aight, then if its the parents pushing that mentality on them, I can see why it happens then...

but its still a shame if you ask me. You see it so strongly here, while I bet you dont in most other nations.

That could be because uhhh other nations don't rely on immigration as much as Canada. Canada prides itself on being multicultural, rather than making everybody Canadian, so what else do you expect, lol.
