For anyone here who is a RJD2 fan, what is going on with him? If you listen to his Deadringer album from a couple of years ago, his sound hide a ton of scope and most of the songs were brimming with emotion in one form or another. However, if you listen to his new album with Acelton (sp?) and the new Soul Position album, his production has really fallen. Any opinions?

Haven't heard the new album - Shame if it's rough... RJD2 is a fantastic producer.

Deadringer is his best IMO. New stuff getting worse. Sad story of many DJ's.

I recieved this one first:

Absolutely love it.

Then I checked out some samples of Deadringer:

and was thoroughly disappointed. Nothing like the other one.

On another note, I sincerely hope he comes up with the melodies himself.

The only song I really enjoyed by him was Ghostwriter.

I thought his production on the Aceyalone album was pretty decent actually, i've got the instrumental version too which does stand up on its own. I agree that he's gone downhill to an extent, although I think people need to realize that his production is going to vary when he has to work with an emcee - it can't be as intricate and varied.

tis the nature of his work though, it can be very difficult finding tracks to sample as good as the ones in deadringer might be difficult.
not heard the new one but I'll be sure to check it out
