Is it possible to... (pg. 2)

Lets say I've got a track which is pretty good, it goes for 6.5 - 7 mins. Easiest way to get people to hear it is to get it on the radio. Lots of house is getting airplay on comercial stations these days which is good for the producers, because they get some sort of monetary return (however little).
To get radio to play my track it needs to be edited down to 3.5 mins. Once they pick it up and start playing it, how many here would still be happy to enjoy it and not turn around and say 'it's too comercial' or something similar?
four strings has managed to get lots of ariplay in Adelaide on Austereo and Nova, so is this a good thing?

Thats because all of Adelaide is in love with 4 Strings, and when he is advertised as "the worlds most popular trance dj" or "the worlds best trance dj".............

oh oh, my favourite advertisement for 4 strings was "He's one of the new breed of djs who play the newest and best tracks". Right, so the older, more established, BETTER djs don't?

Thats indicative of the Adelaide mainstream scene more than anything else

Yes, the internet is a bit of problem in that regard. Familiarity is definitely the key to a reaction on the dancefloor (unless it's a reeeeeeaaaallly special tune no one has heard that stops everyone in their tracks, with a phwoar!)

It would be nice if we could defy the internet (or use it to the advantage of the local scene) and have Australian producers/DJ's/clubbers use a network even better to decide on tracks that will be huge and unique to Australia.

Bit ambitious possibly?!

Course it's artistry!! I shall sit tight then

Where do I get the Trance Australia CD and if I get it, will I ever hear those tracks in a club? Did some of them get such support they were serious hits at /insert big arena event/ when a local DJ played them? That's what I wanna see!

i am all for supporting local productions. Blinky has been madly writing tunes for my sets (an his of course) and i will play them always, his remix of Age of Reason is a corker! i will be playing a tasty little track called Revenge from one of our own very soon and if anyone else has some cool homemade choons please chuck them my way!! ;)

queen_vee
^^ I'm hanging to hear that Age of Reason mix!!

That's what I'm talking about Ben, a producer (who's talented!) who's got a DJ that spins at popular nights who will actually support their work... so a great Aussie production is brought to the clubbers and guess what? It's OURS cos we haven't heard it on streams/downloads from the dutch masters or the UK.

Sezzy - "Chiba" would be the one.. I always thought chiba was another name for weed or something.. smokin teh chiba.

Ben - when your crowd hears that monstrosity they will want revenge on the author.

Queen Vee - Age of reason remix is good, i've heard the housier segment to it.. There's plenty of aussie producers I can tell you that for a fact, its just our trusty dj friends who we need to help put the sound out there. And most of em are pushing local tracks, see benny, the pana, soups, mangler, etc.
