Konijn: hey dood ;) I was just goin to mention that if "industry-ness" means that I know people, then yes, that applys to me. However, these people that I know are friends, aquaintances, and people that I care about, not people that I use to get tickets or on stage. I dont get down like that (and the people who know me can agree...) ;)

anyways enough of the jacking of the thread, seriously. Back to the topic at hand.

What you just said was the point I was getting at. YOU may not be industry or someone who goes up to the booth, but someone you are close with is.

you, my friend, need to go back to chicago if you think nyc is lame. go back to your cubs, your fatty winters, etc. clubs in chicago really do suck, i can understand you wanting to come here. if you are a models and bottles type of guy, go to gaudy miami. there are plenty of fine establishments in nyc, btw, you obviously are not in the know. if you think going to cheesy places like crobar or pacha are gonna get you that, you are mistaken.

Yeah. That's how it is with all clubs in NYC because there's no real estate in Manhattan. Everything is clustered so they have to make the places small.

By contrast, Washington DC has really big mega-clubs: Fur and Love/Dream.

Like you, I was also disappointed in NYC nightlife, because on any given night you can't just go clubbing, you have to know where to go. Club life in NYC is amazing if you have the right connections. Not so for your average visitor.

umm, NO. fur is not big compared to nyc clubs...what a joke.

Sorry, I thought it was obvious before, but some people didn't seem to get it earlier.

Fur is hardly larger than most of the NYC clubs. Hell, I think it's smaller than Crobar or Pacha.

What's the capacity of Crobar or Pacha?

Fur's is 2500.

By the way, Fur has 3 active dancefloors, while Crobar (correct me if I'm wrong) has that main arena and a lounge where people just sit around and don't dance. Again, sorry if I'm wrong, I was only there for a short time period.

Not sure of the exact capacity, which is now lower than it used to be. Until the beginning of this year, there was a whole separate VIP room off to the right that fit a few hundred people. I'd still say that they put more than 3000 people in there on big nights. The VIP area up on the mezzanine is rather large, and I'd almost say that floorspace in the main room is twice that of Fur's main floor. I've wouldn't go to the other rooms (like hip hop), so they might as well be in another club.

Also, Pacha is 4 floors, plus the VIP mezzanine that runs the whole way around.

I just remember being able to get from one side of Fur to the other on an Armin night (so it was packed) in a matter of seconds.

having been at both fur and crobar, crobar's main room is MUCH MUCH larger than fur's if you include the bar area. i think fur's dance floor is bigger but only by so much.

Drove from Chicago in hopes that the scene in NYC would be cool. Well I thought it sucked.

Friday - Crobar.
Damn more or less a low class crowd. Why the do they even have 18+ nights? That pretty much sucked also. Waiting for Sasha. He came on for an hour, big whoop. James Lavelle sucked. I left at 5. Sasha came back on after I left but it wouldn't have mattered. I doubt he cared about this night. Just seemed to be playing some filler . I was hoping to hear a great set like he did at wmc. What a ing joke.

Saturday - Pacha
Expecting a mega club. Not quite, this place is pretty small. Hell its more or less the same deal as sound bar in Chicago. Perhaps slightly bigger but not all that much and 15 bucks for a drink. Steve Angello wasn't bad wasn't great. The crowd is NYC dances just as bad as the crowd in Chicago. Where are the fashion models? Saw a lot of fat average chicks in Pacha just like Chicago.

Will not repeat.

yes crobar has gone down in its ability to attract a pretty crowd. goes with any mega club, but who are you to call them low class? and sasha picked things up slightly after 5, ummm, after you left.
fyi, models don't go to these events. try the door with the big velvet rope in front of it. club events like these were never about pretty people anyway, so what's your deal?
and if you're comparing things to chicago, you gotta be kidding me!!! years after my one year living in chicago, i still shudder to think about going back there. yeah, it was that bad.
