| i recently read that the startup time from inserting a cd into the cdj800 is longer by a few seconds if you use the compressed mp3 format instead of the direct cda format of normal cds. Does this effect the players buffering ability as well? thx |

I assume you mean on the CDJ-800 "MK2"? The MK1 obviously doesn't support MP3.
Yes, most players take a bit longer to load up a track when it's MP3 format, as there is more processing involved.
Even if I had MP3 capability, I would still burn audio cd's only (for compatability sake).

| yea thx, i meant the mk2, so does this mean they perform better using cda format, since it does not have to uncompress the file? |

Well once the track is loaded, it shouldn't be any different.
There have been other decks in the past that have various bugs when playing MP3's, but I haven't heard of any with the most recent players.
