i recently read that the startup time from inserting a cd into the cdj800 is longer by a few seconds if you use the compressed mp3 format instead of the direct cda format of normal cds. Does this effect the players buffering ability as well? thx

I assume you mean on the CDJ-800 "MK2"? The MK1 obviously doesn't support MP3.

Yes, most players take a bit longer to load up a track when it's MP3 format, as there is more processing involved.

Even if I had MP3 capability, I would still burn audio cd's only (for compatability sake).

yea thx, i meant the mk2, so does this mean they perform better using cda format, since it does not have to uncompress the file?

Well once the track is loaded, it shouldn't be any different.

There have been other decks in the past that have various bugs when playing MP3's, but I haven't heard of any with the most recent players.
