i'm with you on this one.

as much as i want the europeans to get killed, it's too much for me to root against italy tho...

assuming croatia and france make it, Id like to see them face off.

i think france will give us an encore. go home early w/out scoring a goal. maybe they are afraind of getting their jersy's dirty or something.

Already qualified teams:

Ecuador
Germany
England
Argentina
Holland
Portugal
Brazil
Spain
(8 out of 16)

So let's imagine the group stage ends now, or all 3rd games are 0-0 draws. These would be the 1/8 finals:

Ecuador - Sweden
Perhaps the crappiest game, yet still an interesting one. A solid half-upset against an almost-top European team. Sweden get to be favourites here, but not by a huge margin.

Argentina - Mexico
Not a very confortable match for the most impressive team of the group stage, even if they are favourites here.

England - Germany
Massive match with tons of history behind, big potential to become a world cup classic.

Portugal - Holland
Another great game between two similarly offensive, technical teams. I'd say Holland are very slight favourites.

Italy - Australia
Italy clearly favourites but there's also big potential for an upset. Very interesting match.

Switzerland - Ukraine
Looking a great chance for either of these two teams to be the surprise of the tournament. The swiss to win here.

Brazil - Czech Republic
Would be an absolutely kick-ass match, if the czechs play as well as in their first game. Brazil favourites but watch out.

Spain - South Korea
Great chance for a revenge for 2002. Spain would win 5-0.

It's actually looking very good, isn't it? There's a good chance we'll have atleast 3 or 4 of these games.

i'll be surprised if we play germany. at that stage anyway... i think germany will beat ecuador and we'll manage at least a draw with sweden, so will more likely be germany vs sweden, england vs ecuador

Go Ecuador!!! they diserve to win!!

And Mexico is not so hard, they dont have a lot to offer, I want spain to win, so they can face Brasil on the next match, i will love to see spain being crushed by Brasil....:toocool:

+1... although I still think South Korea could kick Spain's arse :p As for Brazil against Czech Republic, I really wouldn't mind the results - it would be a great game.

i agree those matches are more likely but wouldn't be surprised at all if the scenario i talked about before happened. all it needs is for either Sweden to beat England, or Ecuador to atleast manage a draw with Germany - not too far-fetched upsets.

Vaya argentino, animando a Brasil.

jajajaja, the thing is that i dont like teams thinking that they are candidates, because they win only one match 4-0. Brasil will make them see reality with good southamerican football lessons, It's a pitty that Argentina can't give them those lessons....
