What a fantastic album this is. Only heard it now cause i've only recently seen Sven playing here and i liked it alot so i decided to get his latest album. And i must say im pretty much blown away. Fantastic deep house/future jazz/downtempo. Easily one of the best albums of 2005! If u like this style check this out for sure. A real genius this Belgian master of future jazz/deep house :eyes:

Ahh, it's nice for a change to see some talk about Sven van Hees, especially since this is TA and all, but I guess then I'm not the only one who enjoys his music like I thought.

This album is actually about a year old, but I don't like it nearly as much as previous cd Calypso. That album I think is his most solid and impressive release so far and for me will be hard to top. I do however quite like Mr & Mrs Ward, Bonne Bay Blues, and The One 4 Me though. Besides those three standout tracks, nothing else really catches my attention too much, so I'd have to give it a 7.5/10.

It's still a solid effort, don't get me wrong, but I'd take Calypso over Synesthesia anyday.

I don't like Sven Van Hees at all :(

I've seen him 2 times live, but didn't enjoy it tbh :o

As for the album; I've heard it briefly by a friend but it didn't appeal me.

Calypso was an awesome album, and Gemini was pretty good as well. So I'll be checking this one out for sure :)

Just heard Calypso and i must say this is def. on the same level as Synesthesia. Its abit more upbeat at times than Synesthesia but i like them both ALOT. He is a much better producer than i first thought. Not only Americans like Kevin Yost define the genre of deephouse, Van Hees is right up there IMO :)

Glad you like Calypso, although I still gotta say it's my personal favorite.

Anyway, if you like Sven's albums, then another great lo-fi/lounge/acid jazz album is "Throwing Stones In Placid Pools" by Plastyc Buddha. I believe Plastyc Buddha is one of the labelmates of Van Hees if I remember right and Throwing Stones has such a lazy and loungy feel to it that is perfect for summer if you enjoy this style.
