Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so here is mine. It syncs up pretty well with the friends I went with.
I drove from Boston to Hartford to check out Markus Shulz and Matthew Deekay saturday night. I was excited about a night outside, and Markus until 4am! Beat out staying in town to see Max Graham at Avalon. Ive really been digging Markus Global DJ Broadcast show, and also his Cold Harbour CD's especially first one. All I can say is what the hell happened? Ive seen some bad shows, and some terrible shows, but this may take the cake. First off the opening DJ started off pretty strong for a resident in hartford, I was feelin the vibe from about 11-12:30. Then he started to suck..maybe he wasnt planning on playing so long and spent his good stuff early on. Finally they announced Matt and Markus around..1:15ish. Suprisingly late, but at this point I was ready to party. Too bad for me, all these guys brought to the table were a bunch of songs from last year or the year before. The style was very Roland Klinkenberg esque. I think I heard Till Ya Drop, Ignight and Fearless. Not bad songs when used appropriately...but I got bored very quickly. Basically the track selection was awful, and the crowd except for a few diehards were not feeling it, and kept thinning out as the night went on. The mixing was pretty good by all 3 djs though. Sadly the two best songs I heard were probably Rachell Star - Till There Was You and Markus Shulz - Without you near...both old..but hey...thats all they played. Having recently seen G&D, Armin, Tiesto, and Ferry....Markus and Deekay were simply outclassed in my opinion, and I feel ripped off. Markus even played madonna....and not a great remix either... Makes me almost want to stop listening to Global DJ Broadcast....almost ;) |

WOW! I wanted to go to this too and wasn't able to make it. I was especially surprised when they made it an outdoor event until 4 a.m.! That's not heard of much here in CT. Doesn't sound like it was a great night though. This is why I try to go to NYC when I can. The vibe here in CT just isn't what it is in NYC. Sorry to hear Markus even played MADONNA! wtf! Personally, after seeing him and MDK at space in miami, I've been dying to see them again. Hopefully when I can finally get out to see them again they tear it up, in all sorts of good!

| Markus did play some old tunes, but they were all good. His set was kinda hard. I dont recall hearing madonna. The outside set up was nice too, there was space for people who wanted to dance. the male part of the crowd sucked. Someone's grandpa was also there , dancing around with some granddaughters. The guy was at least 65 :) |

| Nice to know that something like this happened in Hartford. I will make it back to 960 sometime soon. Gotta expect the old and out-of-the ordinary people to show up in a city like Hartford. |

The Grandpa guy, is always out in hartford according to a friend of mine. Although I dont remember seeing him at G&D this april or last. Maybe my highlight of the night was seeing him double fisting with a drink in hand, all the while dancing. There sure was room to dance.
What was up with the girls dancing right next to the DJ. Is that markus's girlfriend? If that was a paid dancer, it would annoy me, as a DJ. Though she was pretty hot. |
