its very useful up until 3%. If you go beyond that, the song will begin to sound a bit 'cluttered'.

Taht's True, I always use the master tempo, but never go beyond 3 %, if youplan to mix with this feature you better get the bpm of your records, so you know you will not go over 3 %

I've found that it really depends on the track on how far you can go. I have some tunes where going past 1% makes it sound really bad. Though if you're in the 1% range you don't really need to be using it. I've also got some tracks where using it up to 6% isn't that bad at all.

rule of thumb is to not go above 3% with vocal tracks.

It really just depends track by track though. For example...PVD sped up Santiago Nino - Believe (Max Graham Remix) like crazy on TPOD2 and it sounds so much better than the track at the original speed.

theres not much going on with the vocal tho in that song anyways. But say you tried to speed up Jase From Outta Space - Do what you want (Infusion's Sky Mix) the same way....it would sound like shi+

I never use it. I see no need to.

Ableton has a different master tempo system than CDJs

abletons timestretch algorithms are the worst ever! Ive had occurances where only 0.02% pitch shift would cause pretty audible artifacts.

Timestretch (master tempo) on cdj's is OK until 6% beyond that its useless. Actually the artifacts seem to come out only if the stretched track is 4/4. While playing breaks the artifacts are not that noticable.

and now to the hands down winner of all timestretch algorithms: Cubase Advanced Algorithm - You can stretch your tracks +-15% without audible artifacts with this one. Stretching Jasefos - Do What You Want (Infusion Mix) to 130bpm is not a problem with that one.

do me a favor and time stretch the original version of Snoop Dogg's "Drop it like its hot" to make it 130bpm. I wanna lay it over Tomas Andersson - Washing up (Tiga Remix)
