Review: Ferry Corsten @ Bleu - June 18, 2006

I was so exhausted on Sunday I almost didn't want to go to this party. But alas, it's Ferry...I had to.

Cale and I missed the dinner meet up b/c of Father's Day festivities - hope it went well! Got to the club around 10:30pm and it was starting to fill up. KT was on the deckws and he was banging out some dirty beats. I've always been a Kenneth Thomas fan. It's always great to hear a successful DJ from (almost) my home town.

We met up with Barry, his gf (nice to meet you), met Jessie (again! hehe), Michelle, and dj_ajaxs (sp?) - it was good to meet you, I don't think I ever caught your name though!

Ferry was up on stage for a little while before he spun and as soon as I saw him my heart stopped. I dunno what it is about that guy...but I can't stop smiling when he's around.

Ferry came on around midnight, and after my eyes stopped twinkling I danced my heart out. He was spinning some nice old-school style trance. It was ing awesome!!! (I know I've been going to more house parties lately...but sorry guys, I'm still no house head - trance owns my soul!!)

His first hour was my fave. Great trance, then moved it into more electro style and spun a lot of the new tunes off his album.

Some of the tracks we heard:
Fire
Cubikated
I Love You
Watch Out
L.E.F.
In Your Loving Arms

I can't think of more right now...they'll come to me.

The only downfall of the night was the crowd. I've been to Bleu many times before and didn't mind the crowd, but last night was a bit annoying. Everyone was crazy drunk - or at least acted like it - very pushy, lots of "walls" on the dance floor", sleazy guys, people jumping all over the place with no respect for the people around them. Last night I had enough. Nada you would have been proud. I wasn't taking from anyone. You take over my dance spot, or make a wall right infront of me, be prepared for elbows in the side and your feet being stepped on.

Great night to start of my 2 week birthday celebration!!

I Ferry Corsten!!

Sorry...didn't see your thread. I looked earlier and no one had made one, so I started this one and just didn't hit "Submit" until after you did!!

5/10. the crowd at Bleu. Worst ever. Awful awful awful people in that place. The only thing that saved the night were the tunes and Lisa and the other TAs.

Ugh.

Videos to come.

I completely agree about the crowd last night .. if you are just going to stand and not dance .. then get off the damn dance floor!

Great time last night though .. review and pics to come when i get home from work .. long day .. but definately worth it :D

alright barry told me to do the the review from our group as we had quite the roadtrip.

so we left guelph around 3:30 and stopped off in london to pick up michelle. jess, or jessie wilde came out for one last time with us and it was well worth it i'd have to say.

we get into windsor really early so we had time to kill and what better way then to go to the casino. first time there and its quite the money grab, some people in there are pretty scary and serious about their slot machines.

after a bit we head into the states taking the tunnel, no problem with customs but they had never heard of bleu which i found a little funny. detroit is an interesting city, the buildings and archtecture is really cool but the crime and shaddy areas put a damper on it all. we had dinner with elevation, sorry forgot your name, barry and his gf mac, jess and michelle. food was good and didnt' take to long to be served either.

after dinner we picked up some booze and pre drank on the short walk to the club. we get in and KT was playing to notch. didn't know any of the tracks but loved it. I hope someone there can id some of the tracks because every tune was just banging. we were all right out in front center and soon met up with cale and lisa. ya ferry was there early and enjoying KT's set, smiles all around. I agree with the crowd bit beign push but we found some room in a few spots to dance.
seeing ferry upclose doing his work was great, i've got some pictures which I will post very soon.
to bad the club closes strictly at 2 30 but managed to talk to ferry for a bit after he finished. he actually remembered the shirt he signed last y;ear for me in vancouver that said as finishing touch god created the dutch. it brought a smile to his face and a good laugh.

so now the other stuff, which i had to put in this review we leave the club and head to the border first stopping at the duty free shop for some booze. pick up two forties for 28 bucks thinking sweet then customs ruins it by charging 35 in taxes,
:whip: :whip: :whip: it still ended up cheaper but none the less. so then were on our way, fall asleep, except barry because he drove. awake to the car stopped and some flashing lights. crap coppers were tucked on the side of the 401 and got us for speeding. I feel sorry for barry considering he jus tgot his g last week.

so the night was a great time. TA's know how to have fun. thank you. i know i'm missing stuff in this post but i'm running on an hour sleep cause I had to work this morning, ugh it was a long day.

Sounds like a great night - I wish I could have been there! Hopefully Ferry makes his way to Toronto soon; I need to see this guy work the decks - I missed his last appearance.

Good times last night .. glad i decided to go

Went for dinner with Elevation (Mike) and everyone prior to Bleu Room at the Hard Rock cafe .. nice place .. but damn the music was loud in there .. didnt help we were sitting right under the speaker

From there we proceded to Greek town to find a store that was open to get a few pre-drinks .. gave Barry some US driving lessons as to when you are allowed to turn on red lights .. haha ..
Made our way back down towards Bleu .. and went to check out some outdoor concert they had going on .. saw the most amazing advertisement on the side of a building .. pretty sure Dave has a pic of it in his pics ..

Got to Bleu shortly after 10 .. and KT was allready on .. WOW!! All i can say is WOW .. KT's set really stole the night for me .. it was awesome to finally get to see him again and the tracks he was playing, kept the crowd on their feet the entire time. Thanks again KT for getting us upstairs :)

By the time Ferry came on .. the place was getting quite busy .. people were getting quite drunk or something .. man oh man i have never seen it so rude in there before .. as Lisa said pushy people and people just standing in the middle of the dance floor .. or my fav the couple that slow danced together most of the night .. like seriously .. move to the side please!:whip:
Really enjoyed Ferry's set too .. but i havent listened to much trance lately and again .. didnt recognize too many tracks .. but i'm loving the electro :)

Have a great time / bday celebration in NY Lisa!
