Its these little things that make life hard sometimes...
All yesterday afternoon i went on a search to find a... water smoking aparatis, mostly used for tabaco. Back home we just call them bongs but here you call them hookah as well??
anyway, if i were in australia and i wanted one of these i would just go to the nearest porn shop (and yes we have heaps) and buy one.
So remembering this I must of visited 5 or 6 dirty porn shops in manhatten yesterday before one of them sent me to a non existant store on a wild goose chase.
anyone know any good shops aroundm midtown that sell these? |

Shisha in the West Village is the best one I've been to here. It's nothing but smoking stuff, whether you want a water pipe, a hookah, glass pipes, etc. Not sure of the exact address, but it's available online. I'd look, but I try to steer clear while I'm at work.
P.S. Don't refer to them as bongs or bowls. The people at any store will yell at you, because those terms in the US refer to devices for smoking pot, which these are not marketed for, as they'd be illegal. Just call them pipes, water pipes, hookahs(if a hose is what you want), etc. Shisha also sells at least 15 different flavors of hookah tobacco, too. |

Yeah, between 6th and 7th Ave. I wasn't sure if it was on W. 4th, though, as there's those couple of streets that all converge there. |

For anyone interested, i picked one up not from that shop, but a tattoo palour oposite it that had a much wider range and much more geard for other purposes.
i find it pretty funny that the tattoo parlour can have posters of naked tattoo'd chicks everywhere but has to have a sign on the pipe cabinate that they are ONLY for tabacco products. hehe |

there's alot of shops around the village (both east and west) that sell pipes for tobacco use =)
west around 4th, christopher st areas
east on st marks between 3rd and 1st ave areas |

Glad to hear you got what you wanted. There's a ton of shops, but in general, I've found Shisha to have the greatest selection. They've become my first choice when I'm looking for similar material, though I found nicer work upstate.
Granted, since you're buying more for art and show, they might not have your most favorite piece, but I've purchased a few things from them, so I am surprised that you found a wider range across the street. That's one reason why that area is great for that kind of shopping, as there's so many stores in the vicintiy with similar selections. |
