Even though I think most English root against the U.S. team, I, as an American, am rooting for England! (maybe I'm wrong here just a guess from this board).

You dont need Owen in this form. Without him England is way better as seen in the whole first half. So you only have Mr. Robo & Rooney. Hope for you that no one of this 2 will get injured. Eriksson was crap 4 not picking Bent or Beattie.
Sweden looks really weak. |

That goal was indeed Isakssons, He was standing to long out from the goal when Cole surprised him with that shot.
I think it's a pretty tight game, England is playing better so far in the first half and their goal was good.
Sweden has to start shifting sides more, and attack much faster because we've got players who can score both in the box and outside the box. I would love to have Johan Elmander on the pitch, he's a good player to have when you're losing.
Henrik Larsson has to start perform, and Markus Allbäck is working hard on both sides of the pitch. They just need to get those balls, or get ball behind the English defence where they are faster, at least Henrik is. We can also use Carraghers side a lot more than we've done so far, he's no natural right back and you saw what happened when Fredrik Ljungberg challenged them.
We need to push up our play a lot more, and get some tempo into the passes. Also, Englands outside shooting is very dangerous, and Lampard has had 3 or 4 shots outside the penalty area where he's stroke the ball over and wide of the goal. This has to be stopped, because they will score eventually.
Owen injured for England, looks bad.
We'll come up in the second half ;) |
