Hey guys,

I just got a call from some bank here to offer me a job where i would have to call interested people to sell them some packages..like assurance etc...

The thing is that when the lady called she said it was going to be a group interview..now..has any of you did group interviews? What are they like? What do they search in a candidate by doing a group interview...I know they want to know if you can speak with unknown people and but what else is there....

I'm schedule for the 4pm one.....it pays like $14/hour..28 hours/week

Group interviews are an enigma.

I went to an interview course awhile back and asked about these. Basicially the company wont tell you whats involved, as that would give away their secrets.

These group interviews are particularly devious things. You'll be in a room with a number of speakers on one table, and the interviewees on another. They'll give you various tasks to perform, like presentations and mock customer service things. You'll then be asked to elect a representative to give a presentation to the room on what you've done.

These things are notorious for plants - ie: People who appear to be taking part in the interview to get the job but who are actually people analyzing your behaviour for the company. So look on everyone else as a possible snitch, or person like this. They might have someone planted in the group to sneeze and cough all the time, to piss everyone off. How you'll react to that will be noted.

Dont be too loud, dont be too quiet. If you're a loudmouth, they wont want you. If you're too quiet, they wont want you. Be in the middle You might be called up to the front to discuss a topic and to ask questions of the group. If there are no takers for a question, mention someones name and "xxxxx what do you think of this". Shows business leadership.

Half of the day will be presentations/discussions/etc. The other half will probobly be standard interviews. Go dressed in business attire, ie: suit and tie if its for a bank.

Remember they're not just analyzing you on how you perform in a business sense, they're looking to see if your personality fits in with the people that are employed there already. And remember too that you're not there to make friends. The others there want the job too, and you DONT want them to get it. Be civil and curteous to these people, but theres no point getting friends. Remember the 'friend' might be an analyst in the crowd. So dont get too chummy with them. Act business style to everyone. Dont let your guard down and be mates with anyone.

Yes, group interviews are . You're not gonna enjoy it, but you might get a job out of it. They could be different where you are, but this is how they are here.

Best of luck :)

I hope you slip when walking down the street then get a syringe full of mouldy sperm in your forhead while being raped from behind by a stray dog...

But thats probably just me.

The best thing about group interviews is that you can fart and blame someone else.
