agreed. however as a spectator I want to see action.
i understand that in England's case it's a necessary tactic, not arguing against that. Just not exciting to watch.
To me the world cup is an opportunity for the stars to shine, showcase their talent on the world stage. in the highlight reels they replay the fantastic shots/moments, not the whole 90 mins of a team defending after they score one goal in order to win.
it's the seemingly unbelievable acts, upsets and drama that makes the game exciting to watch.
i'm more likely to remember the last ten minutes of the australia vs japan match or Mr Poll's 3 yellow cards in 10 years times rather than the not so rivoting play of England.
anyways, Germany vs Argentina... i can't wait! |

| this is just not interesting, only 2 of the remaining 8 have NOT won the world cup and both are not likely to advance that far, i was looking for at least spain to be a distant shot... |

it's precisely why it is interesting - i've never seen such a battle of the titans. you get upsets every year, we got Greece as a winning upset in the last euro, for a change you get all the big squads facing each other. and i'm optimistic as for my national team, even if in theory perhaps only Ukraine is weaker now.
that being said the 1/8 finals overall were quite ty. yet still the better games were when 2 strong sides faced each other (Spain-France, Portugal-Holland and Argentina-Mexico - i consider Mexico to be fairly strong). |

obviously i won't repeat it but won't retract it either... they WERE playing , at the time of me writing that message, and spain SHOULDn't have underestimated them because of it. as it stands, they improved & deserved to win that match ;) |
