:eyes: are you kidding me! vancouver was very much in need of a change, they fired crawford, wanted to get rid of bertuzzi, and of course cure their ty goalie situation. luongo is TOTALLY worth it. the new nhl stresses scoring, but in my opinion the goalie is and will always be a one of top two stars on a team. i'm just unhappy that he'll be in the same division as my colorado avalanche and they'll meet 8 times next season. |

Roberto Loungo is overrated, I like the trade for the Panthers though. A new enviroment for Bertuzzi will do him some good.
Avalanche re-sign Joe Sakic to one-year contract.
Then they trade Alex Tanguay to the Calgary Flames for defencemen Jordan Leopold and 2nd Round Pick. Stupid trade. Especially considering its to a division rival. If I were the Avs I would have dealt M. Hejduk before Tanguay.
League moves salary cap to 44m this year with the minimum of 28m. |

Patrick Roy was admitted to the temple hall of fame :)
Cristobal Huet was signed for a two years contract with the CH for about 5M$
Kirk Muller will be the new assistant coach with Guy Carbonneau!! *1993 stanley cup flashbacks* good times ahead for sure! |

i wouldn't go and say trading milan would have been better. i'm very disappointed with that trade, i understand why giguere did what he did but that doesn't make it any easier. as you know the avs proved they can score tons of goals but now it's about making sure theodore's gaa stays relatively pretty low. don't know if they really trust him to be as great as he was a couple years ago though. anyhow, leopold has playoff experience and is a steady defenseman so it's understandable. i wish it wasn't to a division rival though but pierre's done that before.
i'm glad to hear they signd joe and the finns today. i could not handle losing more key avalanche players...still pissed about foote and forsberg |

maybe you don't care but i'm an HUGE nhl fan. the league will never roll over and die; i have accepted it's a niche sport but that doesn't mean it'll end or start contracting. i see mlb dying before the nhl, baseball has already began its slow death.
...also OLN (or shall i say Versus) was an excellent idea, but it'll need more marquee sports properties to make it a legitimate ESPN contender. i give the network another 5 years or so. |
