how does the record process go, when playing at the same time, for example, some audio parts and midi plugins and some hardware parts are playing, how do you record this on the computer.
i ask this question to keep in mind what`s needed when i buy a soundcard and a hardware synth/drumcomp.
hey cheggy
Personally, I solo the instrument that I am going to record, but the way I have my studio set up means I have to do it this way.

I record the midi first, including any automation for the synth (soft or hard), then record to audio.

If you have a multi-channel sound card, then you will be able to record each section through individual inputs. Personally though, I prefer to use a hardware mixer to get the levels right, then bring them through in one channel and record each part individually.

i mean, is it possible to record on the pc while playing everything (without recording everything to audio first)
so , for example, if the audio from pc is playing on a external mixer and the pc play`s the external hardware (synth) too.(on the external mixer)
how to record that (on the pc) ? :-P (in one piece :-D

i guess just use line in

is it so simple ? :-D

Well, if your external mixer in connected thorugh your sound card, and then sends the sounds through your sequncer(or whatever your using), i cant see that it would be harder to just use line in, and then master out!

Did i understand the process your setting up? hehe
