After watching this documentary on PBS a couple of nights ago I am left with a great sense of bewilderment of how any Republican can still believe that this man "Dick Cheney" represents Republican ideals. His constant obsession and push for greater executive powers runs counter to what I believed the Republican party to have stood for up until recently in its platform. While I was not surprised about what I saw about him, I was suprised about the extent to which he goes to achieve his aims. Two more years, just two more. He is the true mechanism behind Iraq as many of us now know, it just leaves me a bit stunned at the extent to which politicians are unnacoutable to a gullibe public, who accept their every word because of their party line.
There is little wonder that Colin Powell left, no way could I work with such an individual as Dick Cheney, too bad Powell will always be remembered for that U.N. speech. George Tenet on the other hand comes off as a first rate coward and suckup unable to say to the president and Dick Cheney that the evidence for Iraq is just not there to launch an attack. Instead he went along with Cheney's desires to "finish the job in Iraq" Rather ironic when one considers that when asked why not launch a military strike on North Korea he described their military as rudimentary. Was any military more rudimentary than Iraq. I was left with an even deeper distate for this man after watching this documentary. Good riddance in 08' to him I say. |
