Through your continued support and replies, we'll remain 'near' the top.
You know how I feel in regard to MOST of the "BIG DJs"... There is a movement going on throughout music of all types (the big record labels are feeling it the most... BTW, great article in WIRED this month about it). It is slowly becoming "cool" to be into the unknown artists first (myspace is an example). I have people drop tunes and sets on me from people I've never heard of and I love it (electronic and otherwise). I'm finding that more and more people are 'getting it'. Meanwhile, the door numbers are falling when the "Big Guys" play.
A perfect example of this is www.protonradio.com. Three years ago, we were unknown with a bunch of unknown DJs and producers with 200 listeners. Proton has helped catapult people like James Zabiela, John Lisle, Chloe Harris, Habersham, Neil Quigley, Derrek Howell, Shilo and countless others' careers. Now, Proton has thousands of listeners and regurlarly turns down "Big Names" who want shows on the station.
Imagine "PLACE BIG NAME DJ HERE" being turned down by Proton for a show. They have their PR and management people calling/emailing Proton... and still the answers is "NO". There is a level of quality that Proton expects. If you play music, you are not getting on the station. It does not matter what your name is. Proton is one of the best selling labels on beatport now... and we have releases on iTunes.
That said, Little Mike is an excellent Proton DJ, and has appeared on John Digweed's KISS FM show and travelled extensively. He plays great live.
If you come up to me at 2:30AM on Saturday morning after the event, and you tell me you had a terrible time and the music sucked. I'll give your $6 cover back. *Except Dirk (He'll do it just to be a dick LOL :P
Hopefully, I'll see all of you there
thanks
