I disagree habibi, that that makes him heartless. Its his well earned money. he has every right to keep some or all of it for his own use, whatever he deems he wants to do w/ that.
IMO, I dont care how many billions you have. Its your money, and judging him bc he doesn't donate it isn't right.
I mean, if he does, thats absolutely ing wonderful, but to attack him for not?

A heartless jerk? What exactly are you basing that on? I am not even going to mention the BILLIONS he has given away, of his OWN money (oh i just did).
What, the fact that he makes products and expects people to pay for them? He believes his company is the best out there?

Wow...why don't you guys all just flip out on me though...I said "just didn't he?" as in...it was a QUESTION...b/c I wasn't aware. It was my UNDERSTANDING that for YEARS he's been a billionaire (way before 2000) and he hadn't given away a cent of his money to any sort of foundation. But since I posed my comment as a QUESTION it was possible that there was information that I was unaware of.
If I had that much money I would be donating to charities ALL of the time...but I guess that's just me.
I was also just informed today that Bill Gates plans on giving the majority of his fortune away to charities when he dies, and not just giving it all away to his kids. |

I wonder how much his funeral is gonna cost. I was told my life ins agent at Co-operators, then on average, a funeral costs when alls said and done is often these days from 10,000-20,000$
So, yea, I wonder how much Gates's funeral is gonna cost! |

I wasnt meaning to jump on you habibi, and i didnt even know either if he'd donated to charities at all either.
my point was that i dont think he is (would be) a jerk even if he donated NOTHING to any charities.
Its his right to spend his money as he sees fit was all i was trying to convey, and dont think it would be fair to call him a jerk simply because he decided to spend/save his fortune w/o giving any away for free to a charity. |

1billion a month is alot of money. i am astounded by the amount of personal wealth donated to charity by both bill gates and buffet. amazing! |

I was told that Bill Gates was virtuatlly a crook...stealing the microsoft idea from someone else. So I wouldn't call that earnings...haha...but he has made the business successful since he stole (or didn't steal) the idea. I dunno much about Microsoft though...I don't follow that stuff. Doesn't interest me much.

he didn't steal an idea. in the early 80s he saw a need for operating systems, so he took an existing OS and improved on it, creating DOS.
but that has been the msft way, taking existing ideas and tweaking/tampering with it until it perfects it. internet explorer comes to mind. |

I think it's unfair to slam the guy on taking 20+ years to start donating billions to charities where there are a lot of billionaires and millionaires out there who don't do it at all. |
