It wasn't too amusing (when I first saw it come up on youtube) but it does give me hope for the next lot of episodes. :)

The thing that bothers me about this whole global warming issue is how the Democrats try to pin it down as it being entirely our fault. I'm not saying that our rampant pollution is in any way helping the situation but I believe scientific fact has proven that the sun is heating up on its own accord. Meaning, sure, we could throw the bottle away, but the sun's still having its period, kind of like not telling a girl you're around all the time that she's atrocious when she's having her monthly blood-letting. She's still going to bitch at you no matter what.

just for the record, i wasn't trying to stir up political debate - i just thought it was funny that al gore even said he was trying to "Scare" you about global warming.

and the fact that bender, of all characters from futurama, was the one who was on there, because it doesn't affect him at all...what with him being a robot and all.

But it DOES affect him.

[serious, analytical mode]Due to the necessity of consuming beer, Bender is very much at risk of being negatively affected seeing as how the barley-growth is altered by the change in temperatures around the world.

Republican talking point #9359:

The sun will one day supernova and destroy our solar system so we don't need to care about global warning or do anything to protect the environment.

True, it does have cycles and the blame isn't solely on humans, however we have accelerated the process. So obviously there is a need to conserve, develop alternative fuels to protect our environment and to limit green house gases. This is the point the Democrats, and Al Gore in particular, are trying to make. It's pretty much common knowledge that we need to do something about this. I know this isn't a political debate but the environmental issue shouldn't be a political or partisan issue, it's just become one. It's a human issue, whether you want to live in a world that has clean air and clean water, or a world filled with pollution and disease, as well as the extinction of species, melting of the polar ice caps and other effects of global warming. It's just an important issue that will determine what kind of world we will live in.

Don't you have some 5 page thesis to be writing on the 4/4 time signature and its adherent symboisis to dance music, the vagina, and your birth rather than posting in the c0r? :p

Just kidding, I get their stance, I just think the general context taken by the public who dare not tread into anything that needs further analysis is that the humans are directly dooming themselves and it's all our fault for being greedy man-beasts with cool videos and the internet.

Haha I know, i've not been posting long threads as much, instead I PM people my responses to certain issues raised in the MD forum.

Yeah I mean i'm a Democrat, but I try to have a more moderate stance on things, because I feel both parties have their strengths and weaknesses and need to come to agreement on certain issues like this issue. I feel strongly that this issue shouldn't be an issue about politics or ideology but rather a mutual respect for our Earth. To me it's no different than how you treat yourself, your family and friends, strangers, other's home and your own. I mean it's something that should unite us all. The Supreme Court is going to have a debate soon about the environment and hopefully they will come to consensus that something needs to be done to limit green house gases, esp with big companies. The Earth is the home that we all share, and we should protect it for our survival and the survival of animals. That's not extreme environmentalism (like the ELF) but common sense...
