Lucid Dreamer - The Sleep Walkers [JOOF RECORDINGS]
View this Thread in Original format

Here we see the return of Steve Birch under his more underground alias. Steve continues to be one of the star producers here at JOOF recordings and also one of the hardest working. Two artist albums released within six months, and the third is well under way??!! He is a true talent and has a natural ability in the studio. This album is yet more proof that Steve has a long future ahead of him. Now you have the task of choosing what tracks you will play out, they are all so dam good!! 12 tracks to choose from too!
We think this is the best JOOF album to date, I think you'll also agree.

Release Date: 7.3.06

Track Listing:
1. Blue
2. Dream Sequence
3. Dreams Don't Pay Bills
4. Inside The Future
5. Locked In Darkness
6. Lost Without You
7. Oxygen
8. Space Station - featuring Marcie
9. Stranded At Sea - Steve Birch Remix
10. Voodoo Magic
11. War Of The Worlds
12. Enhance

My Review:
I definitely like the direction Steve Birch is going with this album. From his previous releases his production has improved significantly. This album has some great tracks, in particular I'm really enjoying 'Dreams Don't Pay the Bills' and 'Space Station'. The whole album has an old school goa feel, but incorporates modern production techniques. The bass is crisp, kick prominent and overall sounds are big. His sound really reminds me of some older Laughing Buddah tracks off of Transient.

Overall a solid release, I'll definitely play several of these tracks. My main comment, is that the direction of this album is very different from that of current psytrance. To me, that's extremely refreshing, especially in a time where so many producers are simply rehashing the ideas of other musicians.

Good work Steve!

This album will be available through:

www.beatport.com
www.trackitdown.net
and Itunes

Don't miss it!

Wasn't too fond of his earlier album, but this could be nice

I've to listen to it more, but at the moment I'm really liking Locked in Darkness and Space Station.

Dreams Dont Pay The Bills was on John's Global Trance Grooves 35. It was the very last song on his set. This song just makes me want to jump into a huge pool of coke. If the rest of this album is on the level that song is on im definately in buying it.

This is how the first Steve Birch album should have sounded. Very nice mixture of prog and goa trance. Lovely!

It's a very nice album indeed ...I love what Steve's come up with here.

"Space Station" (feat. Marcie) is my favourite track of the album.
